كشفت صحيفة واشنطن بوست أن وزارة الحرب الأمريكية أنفقت ذخائر تُقدَّر قيمتها بنحو 5.6 مليارات دولار خلال أول يومين فقط من العمليات العسكرية ضد إيران، في مؤشر لافت على الحجم الهائل للإنفاق العسكري وسرعة استهلاك الأسلحة المتطورة في هذه الحرب.

وفي ظل هذا الاستنزاف السريع، أفاد المسؤولون بأن إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب تستعد لتقديم طلب تمويل دفاعي إضافي إلى الكونغرس خلال الأيام القليلة القادمة، لدعم استمرار العمليات العسكرية.
ومن المتوقع أن تصل قيمة الحزمة التمويلية الجديدة إلى عشرات مليارات الدولارات، في خطوة تهدف إلى تغطية تكاليف الحرب الجارية وتعزيز المخزونات العسكرية الأمريكية.

According to the newspaper, citing three U.S. officials, Congress was informed of these estimates during a briefing session held on Monday, raising increasing questions among several lawmakers about the accelerated pace of precision munitions consumption by the U.S. military.
Some members of Congress believe that continuing military operations at this pace could lead to a rapid depletion of advanced weapon stockpiles, which may impact the level of U.S. military readiness in the event of other crises or conflicts.

Concerns within legislative circles in Washington indicate that the heavy reliance on precision munitions in ongoing operations could strain the U.S. strategic stockpile, especially since these weapons require a long time and high costs to be remanufactured and to replace what is consumed in combat operations.

In light of this rapid depletion, officials reported that the administration of President Donald Trump is preparing to submit a request for additional defense funding to Congress in the coming days to support the continuation of military operations.
