أعلنت وزارة الدفاع البريطانية، اليوم (السبت)، بدء الولايات المتحدة استخدام قواعد بريطانية في عمليات دفاعية ضد إيران في النزاع الدائر في الشرق الأوسط.
وكتبت الوزارة على حسابها في «إكس»: الولايات المتحدة بدأت تستخدم قواعد بريطانية في عمليات دفاعية محدّدة، بغية منع إيران من إطلاق صواريخ في المنطقة، وهو ما يعرّض أرواح بريطانيين للخطر، موضحة أن تلك القواعد ستستخدم في «عمليات دفاعية محددة لمنع إيران من إطلاق صواريخ في المنطقة».
وقالت الوزارة إن مقاتلات «تايفون» و«F-35» التابعة لسلاح الجو الملكي البريطاني تواصل تنفيذ عمليات في المنطقة دفاعاً عن المصالح البريطانية والحلفاء، مبينة أن مروحية «ميرلين» في طريقها أيضاً إلى المنطقة، وستقوم بـ«توفير مراقبة جوية إضافية وتعزيز قدراتنا الدفاعية».
وذكرت وسائل إعلام غربية أن قاذفة أمريكية من نوع «بي 1» هبطت في قاعدة فيرفورد في مقاطعة غلوسترشير في جنوب غربي إنجلترا.
وأوضحت شبكة سكاي نيوز البريطانية أن لندن تستعد لاحتمالية نشر حاملة الطائرات HMS Prince of Wales في الشرق الأوسط، مبينة أن تسريع جاهزية الحاملة يعني أن السفينة الضخمة ستكون قادرة على الاستجابة بسرعة أكبر إذا جرى اتخاذ قرار بتعبئتها.
وقال مصدر للشبكة إن الطواقم أُبلغت أيضاً باحتمال نشر الحاملة في أعقاب الحرب الأمريكية والإسرائيلية ضد إيران، في حين قال رئيس هيئة الأركان البريطانية السير ريتشارد نايتون لهيئة الإذاعة البريطانية بي بي سي إنه يرفض تماماً الانتقادات التي تقول إن بلاده لم تكن مستعدة بشكل كافٍ للصراع في الشرق الأوسط.
وكان رئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر، قد قال الأسبوع الماضي، إن بريطانيا لم تشارك في الهجوم الأمريكي الإسرائيلي على طهران لأن أي عمل عسكري بريطاني يجب أن يستند إلى خطة عملية مدروسة، موضحاً أنه لا يؤمن بتغيير الأنظمة من الجو.

The ministry wrote on its account on "X": The United States has started using British bases for specific defensive operations aimed at preventing Iran from launching missiles in the region, which endangers British lives, clarifying that these bases will be used for "specific defensive operations to prevent Iran from launching missiles in the region."
The ministry stated that Royal Air Force Typhoon and F-35 fighters continue to conduct operations in the region in defense of British and allied interests, noting that a Merlin helicopter is also on its way to the area and will "provide additional air surveillance and enhance our defensive capabilities."
Western media reported that an American B-1 bomber landed at Fairford base in Gloucestershire, South West England.
Sky News reported that London is preparing for the possibility of deploying the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales in the Middle East, indicating that accelerating the carrier's readiness means that the large ship will be able to respond more quickly if a decision is made to mobilize it.
A source told the network that crews have also been informed of the possibility of deploying the carrier following the American and Israeli war against Iran, while British Chief of Defence Staff Sir Richard Knighton told the BBC that he completely rejects criticisms suggesting that his country was not adequately prepared for the conflict in the Middle East.
Last week, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that Britain did not participate in the American-Israeli attack on Tehran because any British military action must be based on a well-considered operational plan, explaining that he does not believe in changing regimes from the air.
