توعد وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، بتغير في حجم ومستوى الضربات العسكرية على إيران.
وقال روبيو في تصريحات للصحفيين: «سترون تغييراً في حجم ومستوى الضربات العسكرية على إيران»، مضيفاً: «نحن احترمنا قانون الحرب الأمريكي رغم اعتباراتنا بأنه غير دستوري».
وأشار وزير الخارجية الأمريكي إلى أنه «لا يمكن لإيران أن تحصل على سلاح نووي»، مؤكداً مغادرة 9000 أمريكي الشرق الأوسط منذ بدء الحرب مع إيران.
ولفت إلى أن هناك نحو 1600 أمريكي يطلبون حالياً المساعدة للمغادرة.
من جهة أخرى، نقلت صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» عن مسؤولين أمريكيين قولهم إن الرئيس دونالد ترمب منفتح على دعم جماعات في إيران مستعدة لحمل السلاح للإطاحة بالنظام، وهي فكرة يمكن أن تحول فصائل إيرانية إلى قوات برية تحظى بدعم واشنطن.
وأضاف المسؤولون أن ترمب تحدث (الأحد)، مع قادة أكراد في إيران، ويتواصل مع زعماء محليين آخرين قد يستغلون ضعف طهران لتحقيق مكاسب، موضحين أن الأكراد يتمتعون بقوة كبيرة على طول الحدود بين العراق وإيران، كما قصفت إسرائيل مواقع في غرب إيران، ما أثار تكهنات بأنها تمهد السبيل نحو تقدم كردي.
وأشار المسؤولون إلى أن ترمب لم يتخذ قراراً نهائياً بعد بشأن هذه المسألة، بما في ذلك ما إذا كان سيقدم أسلحة، أو تدريباً، أو دعماً استخباراتياً لجماعات مناهضة للنظام الإيراني.
بدورها، قالت المتحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض كارولين ليفيت في بيان: «تحدث الرئيس ترمب إلى العديد من الشركاء الإقليميين»، دون أن أن تؤكد أهدافه بشكل صريح.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has vowed a change in the scale and level of military strikes on Iran.
Rubio said in statements to reporters: “You will see a change in the scale and level of military strikes on Iran,” adding: “We have respected the U.S. law of war despite our considerations that it is unconstitutional.”
The U.S. Secretary of State indicated that “Iran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon,” confirming that 9,000 Americans have left the Middle East since the start of the war with Iran.
He noted that there are currently about 1,600 Americans requesting assistance to leave.
On another note, the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. officials said President Donald Trump is open to supporting groups in Iran willing to take up arms to overthrow the regime, an idea that could turn Iranian factions into ground forces backed by Washington.
The officials added that Trump spoke (on Sunday) with Kurdish leaders in Iran and is in contact with other local leaders who may exploit Tehran's weakness for gains, explaining that the Kurds have significant power along the border between Iraq and Iran, and that Israel has bombed sites in western Iran, raising speculation that it is paving the way for Kurdish advances.
The officials indicated that Trump has not yet made a final decision on this matter, including whether he will provide weapons, training, or intelligence support to anti-regime groups in Iran.
For her part, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated in a statement: “President Trump has spoken to several regional partners,” without explicitly confirming his objectives.
