عقد ممثلو عدد من الدول والمنظمات المعنية لتناول الأزمة السودانية في نيويورك، أمس (الأربعاء)، اجتماعاً على هامش جلسة مجلس الأمن الدولي الوزارية لمناقشة تطورات الأوضاع في السودان.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية المصرية، في بيان، إن المشاركين إلى جانب الوزير بدر عبدالعاطي، هم المندوب السعودي الدائم لدى الأمم المتحدة عبدالعزيز الواصل، ووزيرة الخارجية البريطانية إيفيت كوبر، وكبير مستشاري الرئيس الأمريكي للشؤون العربية والأفريقية مسعد بولس، ومبعوثة الاتحاد الأوروبي للقرن الأفريقي أنيت فيبر، ووزير الدولة بوزارة الخارجية الإماراتية شخبوط بن نهيان، إلى جانب عدد من كبار المسؤولين.
وأكد عبدالعاطي، خلال الاجتماع، دعم مصر الكامل للجهود الرامية إلى إنهاء النزاع في السودان، وفي مقدمتها التوصل إلى هدنة إنسانية فورية، مشدداً على ضرورة الانخراط المصري النشط في جهود الرباعية الدولية.
وشدد الوزير المصري على أهمية دعم مؤسسات الدولة السودانية، والحفاظ على وحدتها، محذراً من خطورة أي محاولات لإنشاء هياكل موازية من شأنها تهديد وحدة السودان وسلامة أراضيه، وهو ما يتعارض مع قرارات الاتحاد الأفريقي وجامعة الدول العربية.
وأشار عبدالعاطي إلى أهمية الدور الذي يمكن أن يضطلع به الاتحاد الأوروبي في دعم جهود التسوية، سواء من خلال زيادة حجم المساعدات الإنسانية أو تقديم الدعم السياسي والمالي للمبادرات الجارية، معرباً عن ترحيبه بمؤتمر برلين المزمع عقده في أبريل، باعتباره فرصة مهمة لحشد الدعم الدولي لصالح الشعب السوداني.
وعبر الوزير المصري عن بالغ القلق إزاء اتساع نطاق النزاع، الأمر الذي ينذر بمزيد من التصعيد، مشدداً على أهمية تكثيف الجهود الدولية لدعم مسار التسوية السياسية والحفاظ على وحدة السودان واستقراره، بما يسهم في استعادة الأمن والاستقرار في السودان.
وثمن عبدالعاطي قيادة الولايات المتحدة لجهود إنهاء النزاع في السودان، مشيداً باستضافة واشنطن أخيراً اجتماعاً لحشد التعهدات الإنسانية لصالح السودان، وما تضمنه من إسهامات إنسانية مهمة.
وأكد عبدالعاطي أن الوضع في السودان يمثل تهديداً بالغ الخطورة للسلم والأمن الدوليين، فضلاً عن كونه يمس بشكل مباشر الأمن القومي المصري.
Representatives from several concerned countries and organizations held a meeting in New York yesterday (Wednesday) on the sidelines of the UN Security Council ministerial session to discuss developments in the situation in Sudan.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that the participants, alongside Minister Badr Abdel Atty, included the Saudi permanent representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, Mas'ad Boulos, the European Union's Horn of Africa envoy, Annette Weber, and the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Shakhbut bin Nahyan, along with several senior officials.
During the meeting, Abdel Atty affirmed Egypt's full support for efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Sudan, primarily through reaching an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, emphasizing the necessity of Egypt's active engagement in the efforts of the international quartet.
The Egyptian minister stressed the importance of supporting Sudanese state institutions and maintaining its unity, warning against the dangers of any attempts to create parallel structures that could threaten Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, which contradicts the decisions of the African Union and the Arab League.
Abdel Atty pointed to the important role that the European Union could play in supporting settlement efforts, whether by increasing the volume of humanitarian aid or providing political and financial support for ongoing initiatives, expressing his welcome for the Berlin conference scheduled for April, considering it an important opportunity to rally international support for the Sudanese people.
The Egyptian minister expressed deep concern over the escalation of the conflict, which threatens further escalation, stressing the importance of intensifying international efforts to support the political settlement process and maintain Sudan's unity and stability, contributing to the restoration of security and stability in Sudan.
Abdel Atty praised the United States' leadership in efforts to end the conflict in Sudan, commending Washington for recently hosting a meeting to mobilize humanitarian pledges for Sudan, which included significant humanitarian contributions.
Abdel Atty confirmed that the situation in Sudan poses a grave threat to international peace and security, as well as directly impacting Egyptian national security.
