أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، اليوم (الأربعاء)، فرض قيود على منح تأشيرات الدخول لعدد من المسؤولين الإيرانيين، على خلفية ما يسمونه موجة العنف والقمع التي شهدتها إيران الأشهر الماضية.
وقالت الوزارة إن القيود على تأشيرات الدخول تستهدف 18 مسؤولاً إيرانياً، إضافة لعدد من مسؤولي قطاع الاتصالات، ومسؤولين آخرين، مبينة أن هذه العقوبات جاءت بسبب ما وصفته بـ«موجة العنف والقمع التي فرضها النظام الإيراني ضد عشرات الآلاف من المحتجين السلميين».
يأتي ذلك في الوقت الذي تتصاعد التهديدات ضد طهران، وأعلن مسؤولون إسرائيليون، إن تل أبيب تستعد لاحتمال اندلاع حرب مع إيران خلال أيام.
ونقل موقع «أكسيوس» الأمريكي عن مسؤولين إسرائيليين وأمريكيين قولهم إن الاستعدادات الجارية تفترض احتمال فشل المسار الدبلوماسي، ما قد يفتح الباب أمام عملية عسكرية واسعة النطاق ضد إيران، يُرجّح أن تكون مشتركة بين الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل، مضيفين: أي تحرك عسكري أمريكي لن يكون ضربة محدودة، بل حملة قد تمتد لأسابيع وتقترب في طبيعتها من حرب شاملة، مع استهداف أوسع للبنية النووية والصاروخية الإيرانية، وربما أجهزة أمنية مرتبطة بالنظام.
بدوره، قال السيناتور الجمهوري ليندسي غراهام، إن الضربات المحتملة قد تكون على بعد أسابيع، فيما يرى آخرون أن الجدول الزمني قد يكون أقصر من ذلك، بحسب «أكسيوس».
The U.S. State Department announced today (Wednesday) the imposition of restrictions on granting entry visas to a number of Iranian officials, in light of what they call the wave of violence and repression witnessed in Iran in recent months.
The department stated that the visa restrictions target 18 Iranian officials, in addition to several officials from the telecommunications sector and other officials, indicating that these sanctions were imposed due to what it described as "the wave of violence and repression imposed by the Iranian regime against tens of thousands of peaceful protesters."
This comes at a time when threats against Tehran are escalating, with Israeli officials announcing that Tel Aviv is preparing for the possibility of war with Iran in the coming days.
The American website "Axios" reported that Israeli and American officials said that the ongoing preparations assume the possibility of diplomatic efforts failing, which could open the door to a large-scale military operation against Iran, likely to be a joint effort between the United States and Israel. They added: Any American military action would not be a limited strike, but rather a campaign that could last for weeks and resemble a full-scale war, targeting a broader range of Iran's nuclear and missile infrastructure, and possibly security agencies linked to the regime.
For his part, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that potential strikes could be weeks away, while others believe the timeline may be shorter, according to "Axios."
