أعلنت وزارة الدفاع السورية استلام قاعدة «الشدادي» العسكرية في ريف الحسكة شمال شرقي البلاد، بعد التنسيق مع الجانب الأمريكي.
ونقلت وكالة الأنباء السورية الرسمية «سانا»، اليوم (الأحد)، عن إدارة الإعلام والاتصال في وزارة الدفاع، قولها: إن قوات الجيش السوري تسلّمت قاعدة الشدادي العسكرية بريف الحسكة بعد التنسيق مع الجانب الأمريكي.
وتأتي الخطوة عقب انسحاب الولايات المتحدة من قاعدة «التنف» العسكرية جنوبي البلاد بعد اتفاق توسطت فيه واشنطن لدمج قوات سورية الديمقراطية «قسد»، التي يقودها الأكراد، في مؤسسات الدولة السورية.
وشرعت الولايات المتحدة، الأسبوع الماضي في إخلاء قاعدة «الشدادي»، جنوبي محافظة الحسكة، بالتوازي مع عملية إجلاء نحو 7,000 سجين من تنظيم «داعش» في سجون الإدارة الذاتية الكردية، التي كانت تسيطر على المحافظة، باتجاه العراق بعد تفاهم أمني بين واشنطن وبغداد.
وكانت وزارة الدفاع السورية، تسلّمت الخميس الماضي، قاعدة «التنف» العسكرية، مشيرة إلى بدء انتشار وحدات من الجيش السوري لتأمين القاعدة ومحيطها.
وقالت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية «سنتكوم»، إنها أكملت الانسحاب المنظّم للقوات من قاعدة «التنف» في سورية، في إطار انتقال مدروس ومشروط قادته قوة المهام المشتركة «عملية العزم الصلب».
وأفاد قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية براد كوبر، بأن القوات الأمريكية لا تزال على أهبة الاستعداد للرد على أي تهديدات قد يصدرها تنظيم «داعش» في المنطقة، مضيفاً أن الحفاظ على الضغط على «داعش» أمر أساسي لتعزيز الأمن الإقليمي.
وأخلت الولايات المتحدة صيف العام الماضي، أكبر قاعدتين لها في سورية، في كل من حقل العمر شرق محافظة دير الزور، ومعمل غاز كونيكو شمالها.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the receipt of the "Shaddadi" military base in the countryside of Hasakah in the northeast of the country, after coordination with the American side.
The official Syrian news agency "SANA" reported today (Sunday) that the media and communication department in the Ministry of Defense stated that the Syrian army forces received the Shaddadi military base in the Hasakah countryside after coordinating with the American side.
This step comes following the withdrawal of the United States from the "Tanf" military base in the south of the country after an agreement mediated by Washington to integrate the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by the Kurds, into the Syrian state institutions.
Last week, the United States began evacuating the "Shaddadi" base in southern Hasakah province, alongside the evacuation of about 7,000 prisoners from the "ISIS" organization in the jails of the Kurdish self-administration, which controlled the province, towards Iraq after a security understanding between Washington and Baghdad.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense received the "Tanf" military base last Thursday, indicating the start of the deployment of units from the Syrian army to secure the base and its surroundings.
The U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" stated that it has completed the organized withdrawal of forces from the "Tanf" base in Syria, as part of a deliberate and conditional transition led by the Joint Task Force "Operation Inherent Resolve."
U.S. Central Command leader Brad Cooper reported that American forces remain on high alert to respond to any threats that may be posed by the "ISIS" organization in the region, adding that maintaining pressure on "ISIS" is essential to enhance regional security.
Last summer, the United States evacuated its two largest bases in Syria, in both the Al-Omar oil field in the east of Deir ez-Zor province and the Koniko gas plant in the north.
