كشف محامي رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني السابق عمران خان أن موكله فقد نحو 85% من قدرته على الإبصار في عينه اليمنى أثناء وجوده في السجن، في تطور صحي يضيف مزيدًا من التعقيد إلى التحديات القانونية والسياسية التي يواجهها.
ويقبع خان (73 عامًا) خلف القضبان منذ أغسطس 2023، حيث يقضي حكمًا بالسجن لمدة 14 عامًا بتهم تتعلق بالفساد، ضمن عشرات القضايا التي يؤكد أنها «ملفقة» لإبعاده عن المشهد السياسي، وهو ما تنفيه المؤسسة العسكرية في البلاد.
وقال المحامي سلمان صفدر، في تقرير قُدم إلى المحكمة، إن خان «لم يتبقَّ له سوى 15% من القدرة على الإبصار في عينه اليمنى»، وأوضح أن موكله اشتكى منذ أكتوبر 2025 من «تشوش وضبابية مستمرة في الرؤية»، إلا أن إدارة السجن، بحسب التقرير، لم تتخذ إجراءات علاجية كافية في حينه.
وجاء التقرير عقب اجتماع استمر ساعتين بين صفدر وخان، بناءً على توجيه من المحكمة العليا، التي حددت مهلة تنتهي في 16 فبراير للسماح له بمراجعة طبيبه الشخصي وإعداد تقرير مفصل عن حالته الصحية.
من جهته، كان وزير الإعلام الباكستاني عطا الله تارار قد صرّح في وقت سابق بأن خان نُقل هذا الشهر إلى المستشفى وخضع لإجراء علاجي في العين استغرق نحو 20 دقيقة.
وفي بيان رسمي، طالب حزب «حركة الإنصاف الباكستانية»، الذي يتزعمه خان، بتنفيذ فوري وشفاف لقرار المحكمة، والسماح له بالوصول غير المقيّد إلى أطباء متخصصين يختارهم بنفسه، محذرًا من «أي ممارسات قد تعرض حياته للخطر أثناء احتجازه».
The lawyer of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan revealed that his client has lost about 85% of his eyesight in his right eye while in prison, a health development that adds further complexity to the legal and political challenges he faces.
Khan (73 years old) has been behind bars since August 2023, serving a 14-year prison sentence on corruption charges, among dozens of cases that he claims are "fabricated" to remove him from the political scene, a claim denied by the military establishment in the country.
Lawyer Salman Safdar stated in a report submitted to the court that Khan "has only 15% of his eyesight left in his right eye," explaining that his client has complained since October 2025 of "persistent blurriness and fogginess in vision," but the prison administration, according to the report, did not take adequate medical measures at the time.
The report came after a two-hour meeting between Safdar and Khan, based on a directive from the Supreme Court, which set a deadline ending on February 16 to allow him to consult his personal doctor and prepare a detailed report on his health condition.
For his part, Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar had previously stated that Khan was transferred to the hospital this month and underwent a 20-minute eye treatment procedure.
In an official statement, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, led by Khan, called for the immediate and transparent implementation of the court's decision, allowing him unrestricted access to specialists of his choice, warning against "any practices that may endanger his life during his detention."
