نددت لجنة الشؤون الخارجية في مجلس النواب الأمريكي بدعم وتمويل دولة الإمارات لمعسكر تدريب تابع لقوات الدعم السريع في إثيوبيا، مؤكدة عبر حسابها الرسمي في منصة «إكس» أن «مثل هذا الدعم الخارجي لا يؤدي إلا إلى تأجيج النزاع الوحشي في السودان».
غريغوري: لا سلاح لمن يدعم أطراف الحرب
وأوضحت اللجنة أن عضو الكونغرس النائب غريغوري ميكس سيواصل تعليق جميع صفقات مبيعات الأسلحة الأمريكية الكبرى إلى الإمارات، وإلى أي دولة تدعم قوات الدعم السريع أو غيرها من الأطراف المنخرطة في الحرب.
سارة جاكوبس: وقف المبيعات فوراً
من جهتها، شددت عضو الكونغرس سارة جاكوبس على أن الأزمة الإنسانية في السودان «كارثية»، مشيرة إلى أن ملايين المدنيين يواجهون خطر الموت في ظل انعدام الأمن والمأوى والغذاء والماء والدواء. ودعت إلى وقف مبيعات الأسلحة الأمريكية والعمل على إخراج جميع الأطراف الخارجية من الصراع، «بدءاً من الإمارات العربية المتحدة».
دعم المعسكرات السرية
وكانت رويترز قد نشرت صوراً للأقمار الصناعية قالت إنها توثق استضافة إثيوبيا لمعسكر سري يُستخدم لتدريب آلاف المقاتلين التابعين لقوات الدعم السريع.
ووفق مذكرة داخلية، اطلعت عليها الوكالة، فإن الإمارات وفرت إمدادات عسكرية للدعم السريع داخل الأراضي الإثيوبية. ويضم المعسكر –بحسب التقرير– مركز تحكم بالطائرات المسيّرة، ونحو 4300 مقاتل، بينهم إثيوبيون ومواطنون من جنوب السودان، مع رصد نشاط متزايد في منطقة بني شنقول قرب الحدود السودانية.
اتهامات متقاطعة وتطورات خطيرة
وأشارت الوكالة إلى أن اتهامات الجيش السوداني للإمارات بتسليح قوات الدعم السريع تجد «مصداقية» لدى خبراء أمميين، لافتة إلى رصد شاحنات تحمل شعار شركة إماراتية في محيط المعسكر، إضافة إلى تمويل أعمال تجديد مطار إثيوبي قريب من الحدود لتأمين الإمدادات.
ووفق صور الأقمار الصناعية، يمثل المعسكر أول دليل مباشر –بحسب التقرير– على انخراط إثيوبيا في الحرب الأهلية السودانية، في تطور يُنذر بتوسّع رقعة الصراع، ويمنح قوات الدعم السريع تدفقات جديدة من المقاتلين مع تصاعد المواجهات جنوب البلاد.
The Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives condemned the support and funding of the United Arab Emirates for a training camp affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces in Ethiopia, asserting through its official account on the "X" platform that "such external support only serves to fuel the brutal conflict in Sudan."
Gregory: No weapons for those supporting the warring parties
The committee clarified that Congressman Gregory Meeks will continue to suspend all major U.S. arms sales to the UAE and to any country that supports the Rapid Support Forces or other parties involved in the war.
Sara Jacobs: Halt sales immediately
For her part, Congresswoman Sara Jacobs emphasized that the humanitarian crisis in Sudan is "catastrophic," noting that millions of civilians are facing the risk of death amid a lack of security, shelter, food, water, and medicine. She called for an immediate halt to U.S. arms sales and for efforts to remove all external parties from the conflict, "starting with the United Arab Emirates."
Support for secret camps
Reuters had published satellite images that it claimed document Ethiopia hosting a secret camp used to train thousands of fighters affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces.
According to an internal memo reviewed by the agency, the UAE provided military supplies to the Rapid Support Forces within Ethiopian territory. The camp reportedly includes a drone control center and about 4,300 fighters, including Ethiopians and citizens from South Sudan, with increased activity observed in the Benishangul region near the Sudanese border.
Cross accusations and serious developments
The agency noted that the Sudanese army's accusations against the UAE of arming the Rapid Support Forces find "credibility" among UN experts, pointing to trucks bearing the logo of an Emirati company in the vicinity of the camp, in addition to funding renovation work at an Ethiopian airport near the border to secure supplies.
According to satellite images, the camp represents the first direct evidence – according to the report – of Ethiopia's involvement in the Sudanese civil war, in a development that warns of an expansion of the conflict and provides the Rapid Support Forces with new flows of fighters as confrontations escalate in the south of the country.
