أكد وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي، عبر حسابه في «إكس» أن إيران تدخل مرحلة من الدبلوماسية «بعيون مفتوحة وذاكرة تتضمن ما حدث العام الماضي».
ودعا وزير الخارجية الإيراني إلى «الاحترام المتبادل» قبيل بدء المحادثات مع الولايات المتحدة في عُمان.
وأضاف بالقول: «سننخرط بحسن نية ونتمسك بحقوقنا.. والاحترام المتبادل والمصلحة المشتركة ليست مجرد كلمات وإنما ضرورة حتمية».
وتعقد إيران والولايات المتحدة، اليوم في سلطنة عمان مفاوضات بالغة الأهمية بشأن برنامج طهران النووي، لكن استمرار الخلاف حول جدول الأعمال يعني أن إمكانية إحراز تقدم ستكون صعبة المنال رغم تزايد المخاوف من حرب إقليمية في الشرق الأوسط.
وتقول إيران إنها تريد أن يناقش وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي والمبعوث الأمريكي للشرق الأوسط ستيف ويتكوف القضايا النووية فقط في مسقط.
وأكدت طهران أنها ستشارك في المحادثات «من موقع قوة وبهدف التوصل إلى تفاهم عادل ومقبول للطرفين ويصون كرامتها بشأن القضية النووية».
يأتي هذا بينما لا تزال القيادة في طهران تشعر بقلق بالغ من احتمال قيام الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بتنفيذ تهديداته بضرب إيران بعدما عزز القوات البحرية الأمريكية بالقرب منها.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed via his account on "X" that Iran is entering a phase of diplomacy "with open eyes and a memory that includes what happened last year."
The Iranian Foreign Minister called for "mutual respect" ahead of the talks with the United States in Oman.
He added: "We will engage in good faith and uphold our rights... mutual respect and common interest are not just words but a necessity."
Iran and the United States are holding highly significant negotiations today in the Sultanate of Oman regarding Tehran's nuclear program, but ongoing disagreements over the agenda mean that the possibility of making progress will be difficult to achieve despite increasing fears of a regional war in the Middle East.
Iran states that it wants Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Wittekov to discuss only nuclear issues in Muscat.
Tehran has confirmed that it will participate in the talks "from a position of strength and with the aim of reaching a fair and acceptable understanding for both parties that preserves its dignity regarding the nuclear issue."
This comes as the leadership in Tehran remains deeply concerned about the possibility of U.S. President Donald Trump carrying out his threats to strike Iran after bolstering U.S. naval forces near it.
