فرضت بريطانيا، اليوم (الإثنين)، عقوبات واسعة على مسؤولين إيرانيين وهيئة أمنية حكومية، متهمة إياهم بالتورط في استخدام العنف لقمع الاحتجاجات السلمية التي شهدتها البلاد في الآونة الأخيرة.
وفرضت وزارة الخارجية البريطانية عقوبات على 10 مسؤولين وهيئة أمنية حكومية، بتهمة ارتكاب انتهاكات جسيمة لحقوق الإنسان، بما في ذلك قمع حرية التعبير وفرض قيود على التجمع السلمي، وانتهاك الحق في الحياة في بعض الحالات.
وبحسب بيان وزارة الخارجية البريطانية فإن الإجراءات تتضمن تجميد أصول وفرض عقوبات تمنع الأشخاص من شغل أي مناصب قيادية في الشركات، إضافة إلى حظر سفر الأشخاص المشمولين بقرار الإدراج.
وأوضحت وزيرة الخارجية البريطانية إيفيت كوبر، في البيان، أن «الشعب الإيراني أظهر شجاعة استثنائية في مواجهة الوحشية والقمع خلال الأسابيع القليلة الماضية، لمجرد ممارسته حقه في الاحتجاج السلمي»، مضيفة: «التقارير، والمشاهد المروعة للعنف التي شاهدها العالم صادمة».
وأفاد البيان أن العقوبات تشمل قادة في الشرطة وشخصيات من الحرس الثوري الإيراني، وقوات إنفاذ القانون الإيرانية. ووفقاً للحكومة البريطانية فإن هذه الخطوة تأتي بعد العقوبات التي فرضها الاتحاد الأوروبي والولايات المتحدة، لمحاسبة السلطات الإيرانية.

According to a statement from the British Foreign Office, the measures include asset freezes and sanctions preventing individuals from holding any leadership positions in companies, in addition to travel bans on those included in the listing decision.
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated in the statement that “the Iranian people have shown extraordinary courage in the face of brutality and repression over the past few weeks, merely for exercising their right to peaceful protest,” adding: “The reports and the horrific scenes of violence witnessed by the world are shocking.”
The statement indicated that the sanctions include leaders in the police and figures from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Iranian law enforcement forces. According to the British government, this step follows the sanctions imposed by the European Union and the United States to hold Iranian authorities accountable.
