The Head of the Appeals Prosecution in Hadramaut, Judge Mohammed bin Ali Al-Haj, denied the escape of prisoners from the central prison in Mukalla.

He explained in a statement today (Monday) that the incident at the central prison in Mukalla was caused by riots among inmates convicted of serious criminal cases. Al-Haj announced that the incident at the central prison in Mukalla resulted in injuries among the inmates and security personnel.

Hadramaut security denied yesterday (Sunday) the validity of rumors regarding an armed attack or storming of the central prison in the city of Mukalla, confirming that such news is unfounded. It reported that what occurred was limited to minor riots carried out by a number of inmates convicted of serious criminal cases, following their refusal to enter the wards, noting that the security forces quickly controlled the situation.

Hadramaut security added in a statement that necessary legal measures were taken against those responsible, without any recorded security developments outside the scope of the incident.

The Governor of Hadramaut, Salem Al-Khanbashi, announced the restoration of the governorate at the beginning of this month, confirming the commencement of the administration's tasks from the city of Sayun.
