فيما أكدت رودريغيز خلال لقاء مع مسؤولين محليين: «نحن بصدد عملية حوار ونعمل مع الولايات المتحدة، من دون أي خوف، لمواجهة خلافاتنا وصعوباتنا، سواء تلك البالغة الحساسية أو الأقل حساسية، والتعامل معها عبر القنوات الدبلوماسية».
وستكون ديلسي رودريغيز أول رئيسة فنزويلية في منصبها تزور الولايات المتحدة منذ أكثر من ربع قرن، باستثناء الرؤساء الذين حضروا اجتماعات الأمم المتحدة في نيويورك. إذ تعود آخر زيارة قام بها رئيس فنزويلي في منصبه إلى التسعينات، قبل أن يتولى الزعيم اليساري الراحل هوغو تشافيز السلطة.
A senior official at the White House revealed that Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, will visit Washington soon, without specifying the date.
Rodríguez confirmed during a meeting with local officials: "We are in the process of dialogue and we are working with the United States, without any fear, to address our disagreements and difficulties, whether they are highly sensitive or less sensitive, and to deal with them through diplomatic channels."
Delcy Rodríguez will be the first Venezuelan president in her position to visit the United States in over a quarter of a century, except for presidents who attended United Nations meetings in New York. The last visit by a sitting Venezuelan president dates back to the 1990s, before the late leftist leader Hugo Chávez came to power.
