جدد الاتحاد الأوروبي في اليمن التزامه بوحدة وسيادة اليمن وسلامة أراضيه، مؤكداً دعمه لاستقلالية البنك المركزي اليمني في العاصمة المؤقتة عدن، في ظل التوترات الأخيرة التي يشهدها اليمن وحالة التوتر السائدة التي خرجت عن المرجعيات الدستورية.
وأشار سفراء الاتحاد الأوروبي في اليمن، إلى أنهم أجروا نقاشاً مثمراً مع محافظ البنك المركزي اليمني أحمد غالب المعبقي، تناول التطورات الأخيرة في اليمن والمخاطر التي تهدد الاقتصاد اليمني الهش، موضحين أن اللقاء شدد على الالتزام بوحدة وسيادة اليمن وسلامة أراضيه، مؤكدين في الوقت ذاته على الدور المحوري الذي يؤديه البنك المركزي اليمني كمؤسسة مستقلة في إدارة السياسة النقدية، وأهميته في تحقيق الاستقرار الاقتصادي والمالي في البلاد.
وفي السياق ذاته، أكدت سفيرة المملكة المتحدة لدى اليمن، عبده شريف، في تصريحات إعلامية، أنها التقت محافظ البنك المركزي رغم الظروف الصعبة للغاية التي تمر بها البلاد. وجددت شريف تأكيد التزام المملكة المتحدة بدعم استقلالية البنك المركزي، مشيرة إلى أن استقلاله لا يزال عنصراً حيوياً لضمان قطاع مالي فاعل وتحقيق الاستقرار الاقتصادي في اليمن.
The European Union renewed its commitment to the unity and sovereignty of Yemen and the integrity of its territory, affirming its support for the independence of the Central Bank of Yemen in the temporary capital, Aden, amid the recent tensions that Yemen is experiencing and the prevailing state of tension that has deviated from constitutional references.
EU ambassadors in Yemen indicated that they had a fruitful discussion with the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Mabqi, addressing the recent developments in Yemen and the risks threatening the fragile Yemeni economy. They clarified that the meeting emphasized the commitment to the unity and sovereignty of Yemen and the integrity of its territory, while also highlighting the pivotal role played by the Central Bank of Yemen as an independent institution in managing monetary policy, and its importance in achieving economic and financial stability in the country.
In this context, the UK Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, confirmed in media statements that she met with the Governor of the Central Bank despite the extremely difficult circumstances the country is going through. Sharif reiterated the UK's commitment to supporting the independence of the Central Bank, noting that its independence remains a vital element in ensuring an effective financial sector and achieving economic stability in Yemen.
