في تصريحٍ لافتٍ يعكس تفاؤل موسكو بشأن مستقبل الصراع، قال كيريل ديميتريف المبعوث الخاص للرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين إن الحرب في أوكرانيا قد تضع أوزارها خلال عامٍ واحد فقط.
وجاء حديث المبعوث الخاص للرئيس الروسي خلال مشاركته في مؤتمر مبادرة مستقبل الاستثمار في الرياض، مؤكداً أن موسكو ترى أن مسار السلام بات أقرب من أي وقت مضى، خصوصاً في ظل الحراك الدبلوماسي المتصاعد بين روسيا والولايات المتحدة.
وأوضح ديميتريف الذي يشغل أيضاً منصب الرئيس التنفيذي لصندوق الاستثمار المباشر الروسي أن بلاده تسير «على طريق السلام بخطى واثقة»، مشيراً إلى أن الجهود الحالية تتركز على «بناء تفاهمات تمنع تصاعد الصراع».
وعند سؤاله عن إمكانية تحقيق السلام خلال عام، أجاب: «أعتقد أن ذلك ممكن»، مضيفاً أن «روسيا والولايات المتحدة تقتربان من حل دبلوماسي لإنهاء الحرب».
كما أشاد ديميتريف بدور السعودية في تقريب وجهات النظر، مؤكداً أن التعاون بين الرياض وموسكو وواشنطن من شأنه أن يجعل العالم أكثر أمانًا واستقراراً.
وختم حديثه بالقول إن «التركيز يجب أن يكون على نزع فتيل التوتر بدلاً من تغذيته»، معتبراً أن «الجهود الجماعية قد تُثمر عن انفراجة قريبة».
In a striking statement that reflects Moscow's optimism about the future of the conflict, Kirill Dmitriev, the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that the war in Ukraine could come to an end within just one year.
The remarks from the Russian president's special envoy came during his participation in the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh, where he emphasized that Moscow believes the path to peace is closer than ever, especially in light of the increasing diplomatic activity between Russia and the United States.
Dmitriev, who also serves as the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, explained that his country is "on the path to peace with confident steps," noting that current efforts are focused on "building understandings that prevent the escalation of the conflict."
When asked about the possibility of achieving peace within a year, he replied: "I believe that is possible," adding that "Russia and the United States are approaching a diplomatic solution to end the war."
Dmitriev also praised Saudi Arabia's role in bridging perspectives, affirming that cooperation between Riyadh, Moscow, and Washington could make the world safer and more stable.
He concluded his remarks by stating that "the focus should be on de-escalating tensions rather than fueling them," considering that "collective efforts could yield a breakthrough soon."
