فيما يدخل الإغلاق الحكومي يومه الثاني، وسط غياب أي مخرج واضح للأزمة، وتمسك الحزبين الديمقراطي والجمهوري بمطالبهما لتمويل الحكومة، هدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب اليوم (الخميس)، الديمقراطيين بتقليص وكالات فيدرالية.
قال ترمب في منشوره على «تروث سوشيال»، سأجتمع اليوم، مع مدير مكتب الميزانية التابع للبيت الأبيض راسل فوت، لتحديد «الوكالات الديمقراطية»، التي يوصي بتقليصها، وما إذا كان هذا التقليص سيكون دائماً أم مؤقتاً، مشيراً إلى أن فوت صاحب مشروع 2025، سيحدد أياً من الوكالات الديمقراطية العديدة، والتي يُعد معظمها احتيالاً سياسياً، يوصي هو بخفضها، وما إذا كانت هذه التخفيضات ستكون مؤقتة أم دائمة.
ترمب في مواجهة الديمقراطيين
وأضاف ترمب: لا يصدق أن «الديمقراطيين اليساريين الراديكاليين منحوني هذه الفرصة غير المسبوقة، إنهم ليسوا أشخاصاً أغبياء، لذا ربما تكون هذه طريقتهم في الرغبة، بهدوء وسرعة، في جعل أمريكا عظيمة مجدداً».
وأشار ترمب إلى المخاوف التي أثارها عدد من الديمقراطيين من أن السماح بإغلاق الحكومة سيمنح ترمب القدرة على توفير التمويل للوكالات التي يرغب في إبقائها عاملة مثل وزارة الأمن الداخلي ووكالة الجمارك والهجرة المسؤولة عن حملات الترحيل الجماعي.
اتهامات ترمب
واتهم ترمب الديمقراطيين بأنهم يريدون أن يمنحوا أموال الرعاية الصحية للمهاجرين غير الشرعيين، وأن يفتحوا حدود أمريكا أمام مجرمي العالم، وهي تركيبة قاتلة لأن الجميع سيأتون!.
وكان ترمب قد قال أمس على الجمهوريين استغلال إغلاق الحكومة لـ«التخلص من الهدر والفساد»، ملوحاً بفصل نهائي للموظفين الفيدراليين، وإنهاء برامج «يفضلها الديمقراطيون».
وأشار إلى أنه يمكن توفير مليارات الدولارات خلال فترة الإغلاق، مهدداً بإجراءات لا يمكن الرجوع عنها.
وكانت وسائل إعلام أمريكية قد نقلت عن مدير مكتب الميزانية بالبيت الأبيض راسل فوت قوله: إنه يخطط لبدء عمليات فصل الموظفين الفيدراليين خلال يوم أو يومين.
As the government shutdown enters its second day, with no clear resolution to the crisis and both the Democratic and Republican parties holding firm to their demands for government funding, President Donald Trump threatened Democrats today (Thursday) with cuts to federal agencies.
Trump said in his post on "Truth Social," "I will meet today with White House Budget Director Russell Vought to identify the 'Democratic agencies' he recommends cutting, and whether these cuts will be permanent or temporary," noting that Vought, who is behind the 2025 project, will determine which of the many Democratic agencies, most of which he considers political fraud, he recommends reducing, and whether these reductions will be temporary or permanent.
Trump Against the Democrats
He added, "It's unbelievable that 'radical left Democrats have given me this unprecedented opportunity. They are not stupid people, so maybe this is their way of wanting, quietly and quickly, to make America great again."
Trump pointed to concerns raised by several Democrats that allowing the government to shut down would give Trump the ability to fund the agencies he wants to keep operational, such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Customs and Immigration Agency responsible for mass deportation campaigns.Trump's Accusations
Trump accused Democrats of wanting to give healthcare funds to illegal immigrants and to open America's borders to the world's criminals, which is a deadly combination because everyone will come!
Trump had said yesterday that Republicans should take advantage of the government shutdown to "get rid of waste and corruption," hinting at a final termination of federal employees and ending programs "favored by Democrats."
He indicated that billions of dollars could be saved during the shutdown, threatening with irreversible actions.
U.S. media reported that White House Budget Director Russell Vought said he plans to begin the process of laying off federal employees within a day or two.
