أبدى الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب تفاؤله الكبير بالوصول إلى سلام في غزة، مؤكدا قُبيل اجتماعه برئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو في البيت الأبيض، أن السلام سيتحقق في غزة قريبا.
وقال ترمب قبل الاجتماع إنه متفائل للغاية بإمكانية تحقيق السلام في غزة في وقت قريب، وذلك بعد تبادل الود مع نتنياهو في الردهة الرئيسية بالبيت الأبيض.
خطة ترمب للسلام في غزة
وبدأ ترمب ونتنياهو محادثات تتركز على الخطة الأمريكية المقترحة لإنهاء الحرب في قطاع غزة والتي تتضمن إطلاق سراح الأسرى المتبقين، فيما كان نتنياهو يقف مبتسما أثناء الاستقبال.
ورفض نتنياهو الإجابة عن أسئلة الصحافيين حينما وجه له سؤال هل هو موافق على الخطة.
وتعد هذه الزيارة هي الرابعة التي يقوم بها نتنياهو إلى البيت الأبيض منذ بداية فترة ولاية ترمب الثانية.
مطالب إسرائيلية
نقلت صحيفة تلغراف البريطانية عن مسؤول إسرائيلي قوله إن انسحاب إسرائيل إلى خطوط 6 أكتوبر في قطاع غزة ليس أمرا مؤكدا حتى الآن.
من جهتها، ذكرت صحيفة نيويورك تايمز أن عائلات الأسرى الإسرائيليين المحتجزين في غزة ناشدت الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب للضغط على رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو وإجباره على قبول أي اتفاق يُعرض لإنهاء الحرب وإعادة ذويهم.
وكان موقع أكسيوس الأمريكي قد نقل عن مسؤول بارز بإدارة الرئيس ترمب أن «الجميع مرهقون من نتنياهو»، في إشارة إلى الضغوط المستمرة والتحديات المرتبطة بالتنسيق مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي.
حل الدولتين
من جهة أخرى، نقلت صحيفة وول ستريت جورنال عن مصادر مطلعة، أن إسرائيل أثارت عدة قضايا تريد تعديلها في مقترح ترمب لإنهاء حرب غزة، مبينة أن الخطة الأمريكية بشأن غزة تُبقي احتمال قيام الدولة الفلسطينية قائما.
وأشارت إلى أن أي خطوة لضم الضفة الغربية ستضر باتفاق حل الدولتين، مبينة أن ترمب يريد الإعلان عن اتفاق سلام لإرغام نتنياهو على إنهاء الحرب. ولفتت إلى أن ترمب حريص على إنجاز اتفاق بشأن غزة بعد هجوم إسرائيل على قطر.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his great optimism about reaching peace in Gaza, confirming just before his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House that peace will soon be achieved in Gaza.
Trump said before the meeting that he is very optimistic about the possibility of achieving peace in Gaza in the near future, following a cordial exchange with Netanyahu in the main lobby of the White House.
Trump's Plan for Peace in Gaza
Trump and Netanyahu began discussions focused on the proposed U.S. plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip, which includes the release of remaining prisoners, while Netanyahu stood smiling during the reception.
Netanyahu refused to answer journalists' questions when asked if he agreed with the plan.
This visit marks Netanyahu's fourth trip to the White House since the beginning of Trump's second term.
Israeli Demands
The British newspaper Telegraph reported that an Israeli official stated that Israel's withdrawal to the October 6 lines in the Gaza Strip is not yet certain.
For its part, the New York Times reported that the families of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and force him to accept any agreement presented to end the war and return their loved ones.
The American Axios website quoted a senior official in the Trump administration as saying that "everyone is exhausted by Netanyahu," referring to the ongoing pressures and challenges associated with coordinating with the Israeli Prime Minister.
Two-State Solution
On another note, the Wall Street Journal reported from informed sources that Israel raised several issues it wants to amend in Trump's proposal to end the Gaza war, indicating that the U.S. plan regarding Gaza keeps the possibility of a Palestinian state alive.
It pointed out that any move to annex the West Bank would harm the two-state solution agreement, noting that Trump wants to announce a peace agreement to compel Netanyahu to end the war. It highlighted that Trump is keen to finalize an agreement regarding Gaza following Israel's attack on Qatar.
