فيما أعلن وزير الدفاع السوري اللواء مرهف أبو قصرة، مقتل 31 جندياً وإصابة 60 في عملية تطهير بلاده من الألغام التي خلفها النظام السابق، تعهد وزير الخارجية السوري أسعد الشيباني اليوم (الأحد)، ببناء سورية قوية وموحدة ومفيدة للأمن الإقليمي.
وقال الشيباني في مقابلة مع شبكة «سي إن إن» الأمريكية أن بناء سورية قوية سيعود بالنفع على إسرائيل، موضحاً أن الشعب السوري «صُدم» بالهجمات التي جاءت بعد مغادرة مليشيات النظام السابق لسورية.
مباحثات التطبيع مع إسرائيل
وأشار إلى أن مباحثات التطبيع أصبحت صعبة نظراً للضربات الإسرائيلية بعد سقوط نظام الأسد، متهماً إسرائيل بعرقلة الحكومة السورية قائلاً: «إسرائيل بدعم الخارجين عن القانون عرقلت وأعاقت الحكومة السورية عن حل المشكلة».
وأضاف: «ما فعلته إسرائيل زاد الأمور تعقيداً وجعل الدروز في وضع صعب ومحرج للغاية»، لافتاً إلى أن بلاده لا تشكل تهديداً لأحد في المنطقة، بما في ذلك إسرائيل، لكن هذه السياسات الجديدة للتعاون والسلام قوبلت بهذه التهديدات والضربات.
ترحيب بالموقف الأمريكي الإيجابي
وأكد الشيباني أن الشعب السوري رحّب بتحركات الولايات المتحدة لرفع العقوبات -التي فُرضت على النظام السابق- عن البلاد، واصفاً موقف الولايات المتحدة تجاه بلاده منذ يوم التحرير بـ«الموقف الإيجابي للغاية»، الذي لاقى دعماً كبيراً من الشعب السوري، بما في ذلك رفع العقوبات.
الألغام تكبد الجيش السوري خسائر
من جهة أخرى، كشف وزير الدفاع السوري اللواء مرهف أبو قصرة، اليوم، عن مقتل 31 جندياً من رجال الهندسة في الجيش السوري وإصابة 60 آخرين، بينهم 12 أصيبوا بالإعاقة نظراً لتعرضهم لبتر أذرعهم خلال عمليات تطهير البلاد من الألغام والذخائر غير المفجرة التي خلفها النظام السابق.
وكتب اللواء أبو قصرة على حسابه في «X»: يمضي رجال الجيش السوري بعزيمةٍ لا تلين، وإرادة لا تنكسر في تطهير وطننا من الألغام والذخائر غير المفجرة التي خلفها النظام السابق، موضحاً أن فرق الهندسة في وزارة الدفاع قدمت خلال 9 أشهر من العمل الميداني تضحيات جسيمة، تمثلت في مقتل 31 جندياً، وإصابة 60 آخرين، بينهم 12 حالة بتر، إضافة إلى خسارة 16 آليةً أثناء تنفيذ المهمات.
وأضاف: «كل ذلك، غير أننا لم نخسر الإصرار على الاستمرار».
يذكر أن الألغام تشكل تهديداً يومياً على حياة المدنيين في سورية، وتعيق عودة الأهالي إلى مناطقهم، ولذا تعمل فرق الهندسة السورية على تطهير هذه المناطق، رغم المخاطر العالية والخسائر.
While the Syrian Defense Minister, Major General Marhaf Abu Qasra, announced the death of 31 soldiers and the injury of 60 in the operation to clear his country of the mines left by the previous regime, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani today (Sunday) pledged to build a strong, unified Syria that is beneficial to regional security.
Al-Shaibani stated in an interview with the American network "CNN" that building a strong Syria would benefit Israel, explaining that the Syrian people were "shocked" by the attacks that occurred after the departure of the militias of the previous regime from Syria.
Normalization Talks with Israel
He pointed out that the normalization talks have become difficult due to the Israeli strikes following the fall of the Assad regime, accusing Israel of obstructing the Syrian government, saying: "Israel, by supporting lawbreakers, has hindered and obstructed the Syrian government from solving the problem."
He added: "What Israel has done has complicated matters and put the Druze in a very difficult and embarrassing situation," noting that his country does not pose a threat to anyone in the region, including Israel, but these new policies for cooperation and peace have been met with these threats and strikes.
Welcoming the Positive American Stance
Al-Shaibani confirmed that the Syrian people welcomed the U.S. moves to lift the sanctions imposed on the previous regime from the country, describing the U.S. stance towards his country since the day of liberation as "extremely positive," which received significant support from the Syrian people, including the lifting of sanctions.
Mines Inflict Losses on the Syrian Army
On another note, Syrian Defense Minister Major General Marhaf Abu Qasra revealed today that 31 engineering soldiers in the Syrian army were killed and 60 others were injured, including 12 who suffered disabilities due to amputations of their arms during operations to clear the country of mines and unexploded ordnance left by the previous regime.
Major General Abu Qasra wrote on his account on "X": The men of the Syrian army continue with unwavering determination and unbreakable will to cleanse our homeland of the mines and unexploded ordnance left by the previous regime, explaining that the engineering teams in the Ministry of Defense have made significant sacrifices during 9 months of fieldwork, resulting in the death of 31 soldiers and the injury of 60 others, including 12 amputations, in addition to the loss of 16 vehicles while carrying out missions.
He added: "Despite all this, we have not lost the determination to continue."
It is worth noting that mines pose a daily threat to the lives of civilians in Syria and hinder the return of families to their areas, which is why Syrian engineering teams are working to clear these areas, despite the high risks and losses.
