شهدت قاعة الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة لحظة درامية الجمعة، حيث انسحبت عشرات الوفود الرسمية في احتجاج جماعي فور صعود رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو إلى المنصة لإلقاء كلمته.
وجاء الانسحاب، الذي شمل وفوداً من دول عربية وإسلامية وأوروبية وأمريكية لاتينية، كرد فعل على السياسات الإسرائيلية في غزة ولبنان، وتعبيراً عن الرفض العالمي للحرب الإسرائيلية والحصار الخانق الذي تفرضه إسرائيل على قطاع غزة، وسط تصفيق محدود من الوفد الأمريكي ومعجبين في الشرفات العلوية.
وبدأ الانسحاب فور إعلان رئيس الجمعية فيليب بيلغرينو اسم نتنياهو، حيث غادرت الوفود الجالسة في الصفوف الأمامية بسرعة، مما أحدث زحاماً عند الأبواب وأصوات احتجاج خافتة، حيث كانت المبادرة مدعومة من قبل بعثة فلسطين لدى الأمم المتحدة، التي دعت مسبقاً إلى «انسحاب جماعي» لإرسال «رسالة واضحة» بأن «لا أحد مستعد للمساعدة في الإبادة الجماعية والجرائم الحربية والاحتلال غير الشرعي».
وفي كلمته، التي استمرت نحو 25 دقيقة، أكد نتنياهو أن إسرائيل «يجب أن تنهي المهمة» في غزة، رافضاً فكرة الدولة الفلسطينية ومتهماً «الأمم المتحدة بالتحيز»، واصفا الانسحاب بـ«الخدع الرخيصة»، محولاً كلمته إلى دفاع عن إنهاء المهمة ضد حماس وحزب الله.
ووصف نتنياهو هجمات إسرائيل على حزب الله بأنها «رسالة واضحة»، قائلاً: «لقد اتصلنا بحزب الله، وتلقوا الرسالة»، مشيراً إلى عملية «التنبيه» التي أدت إلى تدمير آلاف الصواريخ، كما وجه نداءً مباشراً إلى الأسرى في غزة، مدعياً أن خطابه يُبث عبر مكبرات صوت في القطاع بفضل «المخابرات الإسرائيلية»، لكنه نفى الاتصال بأهالي غزة الذين أكدوا عدم سماعهم له.
وأعربت بعثة فلسطين عن ترحيبها بالانسحاب، واصفة إياه بـ«نصر دبلوماسي» يعكس «العزلة الدولية المتزايدة لإسرائيل»، بينما نفت إسرائيل أي صلة بالدين أو السياسة، مشيرة إلى أنه «احتجاج سياسي رخيص».
وتعقد الدورة 80 للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك من 22 إلى 30 سبتمبر، تحت شعار «لا نترك أحداً خلفنا: التصرف لتحقيق السلام والكرامة والمساواة في عالم أكثر أمناً وعدالة»، وسط تصاعد التوترات العالمية الناتجة عن الحرب في غزة التي اندلعت في 7 أكتوبر 2023.
وشهدت الدورة السابقة (79 في 2024) انسحاباً مشابهاً أثناء كلمة نتنياهو، مما أصبح تقليداً سنوياً يعكس الانقسام الدولي حول إسرائيل، خاصة بعد صدور مذكرة توقيف من المحكمة الجنائية الدولية في نوفمبر 2024 ضد نتنياهو بتهم جرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الإنسانية.
The United Nations General Assembly hall witnessed a dramatic moment on Friday, as dozens of official delegations walked out in a collective protest immediately after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the stage to deliver his speech.
The walkout, which included delegations from Arab, Islamic, European, and Latin American countries, was a reaction to Israeli policies in Gaza and Lebanon, and an expression of global rejection of the Israeli war and the suffocating blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip, amidst limited applause from the American delegation and supporters in the upper balconies.
The withdrawal began as soon as the President of the Assembly, Philippe Bélanger, announced Netanyahu's name, with delegations seated in the front rows quickly leaving, creating a congestion at the doors and faint sounds of protest, as the initiative was supported by the Palestinian Mission to the United Nations, which had previously called for a "collective withdrawal" to send a "clear message" that "no one is willing to assist in genocide, war crimes, and illegal occupation."
In his speech, which lasted about 25 minutes, Netanyahu asserted that Israel "must complete the mission" in Gaza, rejecting the idea of a Palestinian state and accusing "the United Nations of bias," describing the walkout as "cheap tricks," turning his speech into a defense of the mission against Hamas and Hezbollah.
Netanyahu described Israel's attacks on Hezbollah as a "clear message," stating: "We contacted Hezbollah, and they received the message," referring to the "alert" operation that led to the destruction of thousands of rockets. He also made a direct appeal to the prisoners in Gaza, claiming that his speech was being broadcast through loudspeakers in the territory thanks to "Israeli intelligence," but denied contacting the families in Gaza who confirmed they had not heard him.
The Palestinian Mission expressed its welcome for the walkout, describing it as a "diplomatic victory" reflecting "Israel's increasing international isolation," while Israel denied any connection to religion or politics, stating it was a "cheap political protest."
The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly is being held in New York from September 22 to 30, under the theme "Leave No One Behind: Acting for Peace, Dignity, and Equality on a Healthy Planet," amid rising global tensions resulting from the war in Gaza that erupted on October 7, 2023.
The previous session (79 in 2024) witnessed a similar walkout during Netanyahu's speech, which has become an annual tradition reflecting international division over Israel, especially after the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court in November 2024 against Netanyahu on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
