أدانت مصر استمرار توسع العدوان العسكري الإسرائيلي في غزة، والإمعان في انتهاك القانون الدولي الإنساني، بما يتعارض بشكل كامل مع الرغبة الدولية في وضع حد للحرب علي قطاع غزة، وللتصعيد الناتج عنها بالمنطقة.
وأكدت الخارجية المصرية في بيان لها أن عدم تجاوب إسرائيل حتى الآن مع الصفقة المطروحة من مصر وقطر في إطار جهود التوصل لوقف إطلاق النار في قطاع غزة يعكس غياباً كاملاً للإرادة الإسرائيلية في خفض التصعيد وإحلال الهدوء والسلام، ووجود نوايا واضحة للاستمرار في العدوان على الأبرياء في قطاع غزة.
وأوضحت مصر أن تلك النوايا الإسرائيلية تهدد بمضاعفة العواقب الكارثية الوخيمة على الوضع الإنساني في غزة، ولا سيما في ظل سياسات التجويع والحصار التي ينتهجها الاحتلال الإسرائيلي ضد المدنيين العزل في القطاع.
وجددت مصر رفضها بشكل قاطع «النهج الإسرائيلي العدواني» المتسبب في تأزم الوضع في المنطقة ووضعها على مسار تصادمي ينذر بالمزيد من التصعيد والصراع نتيجة تجاهل إسرائيل الجهود الحثيثة المبذولة لخفض التصعيد ووقف الحرب على قطاع غزة.
وأعربت مصر عن رفضها القاطع للتوسع المستمر في سياسات الاستيطان في الأراضي الفلسطينية، والتراجع عن مسار السلام المرتكز على حل الدولتين المدعوم إقليمياً ودولياً.
وتصاعدت التوترات بين مصر وإسرائيل منذ حرب إسرائيل على قطاع غزة في أكتوبر 2023 عقب عملية طوفان الأقصى، وتفاقمت التوترات بعد قرار المجلس الوزاري الإسرائيلي «الكابينت» في أغسطس توسيع العمليات العسكرية في غزة، الذي وصفته دار الإفتاء المصرية بـ«توجه عدواني واضح لتصفية القضية الفلسطينية».
وتشير تقارير إلى أن إسرائيل بقيادة رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو تتمسك بأهداف عسكرية تشمل القضاء على حركة حماس ومنع أي تهديد مستقبلي من غزة، حتى لو أدى ذلك إلى استمرار الحرب وتجاهل المقترحات الدولية للهدنة.
وتلعب مصر دوراً محورياً في الوساطة بين إسرائيل و«حماس»، وقادت مع قطر مفاوضات أسفرت عن مقترح هدنة ثلاثي المراحل في مايو 2024، لكن إسرائيل رفضت وقفاً دائماً لإطلاق النار، مشيرة إلى ضرورة القضاء على «حماس» عسكرياً.
Egypt condemned the continued expansion of the Israeli military aggression in Gaza and the persistent violation of international humanitarian law, which completely contradicts the international desire to put an end to the war on the Gaza Strip and the escalation resulting from it in the region.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that Israel's lack of response so far to the proposal put forth by Egypt and Qatar as part of efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip reflects a complete absence of Israeli will to de-escalate and restore calm and peace, and indicates clear intentions to continue the aggression against innocent people in Gaza.
Egypt clarified that these Israeli intentions threaten to exacerbate the catastrophic consequences on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, especially in light of the starvation and siege policies pursued by the Israeli occupation against unarmed civilians in the region.
Egypt reiterated its firm rejection of the "Israeli aggressive approach" that has led to the worsening situation in the region and placed it on a confrontational path that threatens further escalation and conflict due to Israel's disregard for the earnest efforts made to de-escalate and stop the war on the Gaza Strip.
Egypt expressed its absolute rejection of the ongoing expansion of settlement policies in the Palestinian territories and the retreat from the peace process based on the two-state solution supported regionally and internationally.
Tensions between Egypt and Israel have escalated since Israel's war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023 following the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, and the tensions worsened after the Israeli cabinet's decision in August to expand military operations in Gaza, which the Egyptian Fatwa House described as "a clear aggressive trend to liquidate the Palestinian cause."
Reports indicate that Israel, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is committed to military objectives that include eliminating Hamas and preventing any future threats from Gaza, even if this leads to the continuation of the war and the disregard of international ceasefire proposals.
Egypt plays a pivotal role in mediating between Israel and "Hamas," and led negotiations with Qatar that resulted in a three-phase ceasefire proposal in May 2024, but Israel rejected a permanent ceasefire, citing the necessity of militarily eliminating "Hamas."
