داهم عملاء من مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي (FBI) منزل جون بولتون مستشار الأمن القومي السابق للرئيس دونالد ترمب، في منطقة واشنطن العاصمة، على تحقيق رفيع المستوى يتعلق بالأمن القومي.
وذكرت صحيفة «واشنطن بوست» أن عملاء فيدراليين اقتحموا منزل بولتون في بيثيسدا ماريلاند في تمام الساعة السابعة صباحًا بأمر من مدير مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي الجديد كاش باتيل. وكتب باتيل في منشور له على موقع «إكس» بعد وقت قصير من بدء المداهمة: «لا أحد فوق القانون، عملاء مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي في مهمة».
وحسب المعلومات المسربة، فإن التحقيق يتركز على وثائق سرية، وقد بدأ منذ سنوات، لكن إدارة الرئيس السابق جو بايدن كانت قد أوقفته «لأسباب سياسية» بحسب مسؤول أمريكي رفيع المستوى.
واتهم بولتون في السابق بتضمين معلومات سرية في كتابه الشهير «الغرفة التي حدث فيها ذلك»، الصادر عام 2020، بحسب ما أوردت صحيفة «نيويورك بوست» الأمريكية.
يُذكر أن الرئيس ترمب حاول جاهدًا منع نشر الكتاب، مدعيًا أن بولتون خرق اتفاقية عدم الإفصاح التي وقعها، لكن محاولاته لم تنجح. ومنذ ذلك الحين، أصبح الخلاف بين بولتون وترمب علنيًا، حيث يظهر بولتون بانتظام على القنوات الإخبارية لانتقاد سياسات ترمب في مجالات الأمن القومي والسياسة الخارجية.
وتأتي المداهمة بعد نحو 24 ساعة من كشف كاش باتيل أن مدير مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي السابق جيمس كومي سمح بتسريب وثائق سرية «لتضليل الكونغرس» قبل انتخابات عام 2016. وقد تعهد باتيل بتنفيذ حملة تطهير واسعة النطاق في الحكومة الفيدرالية للقضاء على الفساد وكشف عمليات التستر.
