فيما نقل موقع «أكسيوس» عن مسؤول أمريكي قوله إن إدارة ترمب لا تدعم ضم إسرائيل أجزاء من غزة، أظهرت تصريحات رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، اليوم (الخميس)، طبيعة التضارب في توجهاته.
ففي الوقت الذي يقول لقناة (سي إن إن 18) الهندية إن إسرائيل لن تضم غزة، يعود مجدداً ويتحدث أن هناك خططاً لنقل حكم القطاع إلى جهة مؤقتة دون أن يحددها.
وقال نتنياهو: «الحرب يمكن أن تنتهي بسرعة (غداً) إذا ألقت حركة حماس سلاحها وأفرجت عن جميع الرهائن الإسرائيليين دون قيد أو شرط».
في الوقت ذاته قال رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو لـ«فوكس نيوز»: «ننوي السيطرة على قطاع غزة بالكامل لكن لا نريد الاحتفاظ به وحكمه»، موضحاً أنه يريد تسليم غزة لقوات مسلحة تحكمها بشكل ملائم.
وفي ذات السياق، أصر رئيس الأركان الإسرائيلي آيال زامير على موقفه الرافض لاحتلال غزة.
وكان زامير قد قال قبيل دخوله الاجتماع مع اللجنة الوزارية أنه سيواصل التعبير عن موقفه دون خوف وبشكل موضوعي، مستقل ومهني.
ونقلت صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز» عن مسؤولين أمنيين إسرائيليين قولهم: «رئيس الأركان آيال زامير رفض خطة توسيع العمليات العسكرية لتشمل جميع أنحاء غزة»، مبينة أن زامير أعرب عن مخاوفه بشأن إرهاق جنود الاحتياط ومستوى لياقتهم.
وأشار المسؤولون إلى أن هناك مخاوف بشأن مسؤولية الجيش عن حكم ملايين الفلسطينيين، مبينين أن قيادة الجيش تفضل وقفاً جديداً لإطلاق النار في غزة بدلاً من تصعيد القتال.
وأوضح المسؤولون الأمنيون الإسرائيليون أن نتنياهو لم يتخذ قرارا نهائيا بعد بشأن توسيع الحملة العسكرية في غزة.
وكانت صحيفة «يديعوت أحرونوت» قد نقلت عن زعيم حزب الديمقراطيين يائير غولان قوله: «الحكومة الإسرائيلية تتخلى عن المخطوفين لاعتبارات سياسية خصوصاً أن اتخاذ قرار باحتلال غزة يعني التخلي عن إمكانية إعادة المخطوفين».
The website "Axios" quoted an American official saying that the Trump administration does not support Israel's annexation of parts of Gaza, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements today (Thursday) showed the nature of the contradiction in his positions.
At the same time he tells the Indian channel (CNN 18) that Israel will not annex Gaza, he goes back to speak about plans to transfer governance of the sector to a temporary entity without specifying it.
Netanyahu said: "The war could end quickly (tomorrow) if Hamas lays down its arms and releases all Israeli hostages unconditionally."
At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told "Fox News": "We intend to take full control of the Gaza Strip, but we do not want to retain it and govern it," clarifying that he wants to hand Gaza over to armed forces that govern it appropriately.
In the same context, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir insisted on his position rejecting the occupation of Gaza.
Zamir had stated before entering the meeting with the ministerial committee that he would continue to express his position without fear and in an objective, independent, and professional manner.
The "New York Times" reported Israeli security officials saying: "Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir rejected a plan to expand military operations to include all of Gaza," indicating that Zamir expressed his concerns about the exhaustion of reserve soldiers and their fitness level.
The officials pointed out that there are concerns about the army's responsibility for governing millions of Palestinians, indicating that the military leadership prefers a new ceasefire in Gaza rather than escalating the fighting.
Israeli security officials clarified that Netanyahu has not yet made a final decision regarding the expansion of the military campaign in Gaza.
The newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" quoted the leader of the Democratic Party, Yair Golan, saying: "The Israeli government is abandoning the hostages for political considerations, especially since making a decision to occupy Gaza means giving up the possibility of returning the hostages."
