حذرت صحيفة «هآرتس» الإسرائيلية اليوم (الأحد) من تحركات رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو الساعية لإطالة أمد الحرب، «بعد أن أوقع المبعوث الأمريكي للشرق الأوسط، ستيف ويتكوف في فخه».
وأوضحت الصحيفة أن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب هو القادر على إجبار نتنياهو على توقيع صفقة إطلاق سراح الرهائن وإنهاء الأزمة، مبينة أن وعود ويتكوف الكبرى تبددت بعد 6 أشهر من توليه منصبه.
وأفادت الصحيفة الإسرائيلية بأن نتنياهو يعسى لإطالة أمد الحرب في غزة، عبر وضع شروط يعلم أن حركة حماس سترفضها، مشيرة إلى أن ويتكوف كان قد نجح في يناير لكنه فقد حالياً السيطرة على التفاصيل الدقيقة، لجهله بتكتيكات الخداع التي يتبعها رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو، وعدم فهمه العميق للمنطقة، وكلها عوامل تسببت في سقوطه منذ ذلك الحين.
وأشارت إلى أن مخططات ويتكوف بشأن وقف إطلاق النار الجزئي، وصفقات إطلاق سراح الرهائن انهارت، مشددة بالقول: لم تسفر الجهود الأمريكية-المصرية-القطرية عن شيء سوى أزمة إنسانية في غزة، كما أن المفاوضات مع إيران فشلت، ولم يسجل أي تقدم مع الجبهة الروسية الأوكرانية أيضاً.
وكان ويتكوف قد فاجأ عائلات الأسرى الإسرائيليين حين قال أمام الجميع إن حركة حماس وافقت على التخلي عن السلاح، وهو ما سارعت الحركة لنفيه، وأكدت أنها لن تتخلى عن سلاحها قبل إقامة دولة فلسطينية مستقلة.
واعتبرت الصحيفة تصريحات ويتكوف محاولة لرفع معنويات العائلات، وتظهر تخلي الولايات المتحدة عن إستراتيجية الاتفاقات التدريجية، وتسعى إلى إنهاء الحرب بخطوة واحدة، مبينة أن زيارة ويتكوف كان هدفها الترويج لمبادرة إنسانية بديلة، تتمثل بسحب الولايات المتحدة ملف المساعدات الإنسانية من يد وزير المالية اليميني المتطرف بتسلئيل سموتريتش، لتتولى إدارته بنفسها.
وشددت الصحيفة العبرية على أن مفاتيح حل الأزمة في يد ترمب، وعليه أن يوضح الصورة لنتنياهو.
The Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" warned today (Sunday) about the movements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aimed at prolonging the war, "after the American envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, fell into his trap."
The newspaper explained that U.S. President Donald Trump is capable of forcing Netanyahu to sign a deal for the release of hostages and end the crisis, noting that Witkoff's grand promises have dissipated after six months in office.
The Israeli newspaper reported that Netanyahu is seeking to prolong the war in Gaza by setting conditions that he knows Hamas will reject, pointing out that Witkoff succeeded in January but has currently lost control over the fine details, due to his ignorance of the deceptive tactics employed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his lack of deep understanding of the region, all of which have contributed to his downfall since then.
It noted that Witkoff's plans for a partial ceasefire and hostage release deals have collapsed, emphasizing that the American-Egyptian-Qatari efforts have resulted in nothing but a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and that negotiations with Iran have failed, with no progress recorded with the Russian-Ukrainian front either.
Witkoff surprised the families of Israeli prisoners when he stated publicly that Hamas had agreed to disarm, which the movement quickly denied, asserting that it would not relinquish its weapons before the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The newspaper considered Witkoff's statements an attempt to boost the morale of the families, showing the United States' abandonment of the strategy of gradual agreements, and seeking to end the war in one step, indicating that Witkoff's visit aimed to promote an alternative humanitarian initiative, which involves the United States taking the humanitarian aid file out of the hands of far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to manage it itself.
The Hebrew newspaper stressed that the keys to solving the crisis are in Trump's hands, and he needs to clarify the situation to Netanyahu.
