The Jordanian monarch King Abdullah II confirmed today (Wednesday) that no one is unaware of the feelings of anger that are sweeping through the hearts of Jordanians due to what is happening in Gaza in terms of killing and starvation, affirming that he is the first to feel this.
During his meeting with media figures at the Husseiniya Palace, the Jordanian monarch stated that he is fully convinced that all sons and daughters of Jordan wish to help Gaza in every possible way and are ready to do everything they can to assist them, emphasizing that Gaza is witnessing a humanitarian disaster that surpasses anything we have seen in modern history.
He pointed out that his country continues its communications with Arab leaders and international partners to pressure for an end to the war, stressing the necessity of respecting all viewpoints and differing methods of expressing sorrow without accusations, attacks, or defamation of others, because what unites us as Jordanians is our strong national unity that is not diminished by differences.
He added: "The suffering of Gaza pains us and touches our humanity deeply, not only because what is happening is geographically close to us, but because our country was built on mutual love and standing by all those who face suffering," emphasizing: We fully understand that the current relief efforts, despite their importance, are not enough to confront the magnitude of such severe suffering, as entire families are being wiped out and children are being starved, but we continue to provide everything we can out of our moral, humanitarian, and Arab duty, which we do not boast about nor expect thanks for, as we do not ignore the call of our needy neighbor.
The World Food Programme has stated that the figures confirm that Gaza is facing a danger of famine and that time is running out to launch a comprehensive humanitarian response, indicating that 1 in every 3 people in Gaza spends days without food and 75% are facing emergency levels of hunger, and about 25% of the population of the Gaza Strip is suffering conditions similar to famine.
