The Freedom Flotilla Coalition anticipated the arrival of the ship to the shores of Gaza tomorrow (Sunday), and today (Saturday) the coalition confirmed that two unidentified boats and drones are approaching the ship "Hanzala," which is heading to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition stated in a message on its Telegram account that the ship named "Hanzala," after a famous Palestinian cartoon character, is now only 105 nautical miles (194 kilometers) from its destination, indicating that two unidentified boats and drones are getting closer to the ship.
It was noted that drones were seen flying over the ship, with 16 drones detected in the last 45 minutes, some of which were flying above the ship. French MP Gabrielle Catla stated on the coalition's account that they are prepared for any potential intervention that may occur in the coming hours or tomorrow morning.
Catla added: "We have all united, we are in solidarity and ready. The drones have started heading towards us. If the internet goes down, strange things may happen, and don’t worry about us; think of the Palestinians. They are suffering. What they are experiencing amid the horrific genocide is far worse than the dangers we face on this ship."
The crew of the ship reported that they had experienced incidents they described as "suspicious," confirming that there is suspicion of Israeli involvement in attempts to obstruct their journey, including finding a rope wrapped around the ship's propeller, which caused it to malfunction, and another incident involving a drinking water tank that had a label indicating it contained "sulfuric acid," resulting in chemical burns to one crew member.
The ship "Hanzala" carries 19 activists and two journalists from several countries and set sail from Sicily on July 13, in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and deliver aid to its residents amid a severe shortage of food and other essentials.
In contrast, the Israeli Navy announced that it would prevent the new ship from reaching the Gaza Strip, which it has devastated in its ongoing war for more than 21 months, causing the largest humanitarian disaster and famine in the world.
The Israeli army clarified that it is enforcing the maritime security blockade and is prepared for a wide range of scenarios, and will act according to the directives of the political leadership.
Israel had intercepted the sailing vessel "Madeline" belonging to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition on June 9, with 12 activists from France, Germany, Brazil, Turkey, Sweden, Spain, and the Netherlands on board, about 185 kilometers west of the Gaza coast, and they were deported after some were detained for days.
