While the Houthis escalated their kidnapping crimes against Yemenis in several governorates, the British security company Ambrey revealed today (Thursday) that a maritime tanker off the coast of the Al-Mokha district in western Yemen was fired upon by armed men from a small boat.
Ambrey stated that it received reports of a new incident 30 nautical miles northwest of Al-Mokha, confirming that at least two explosions occurred very close to the targeted vessel off the port of Al-Mokha.
The Houthis had sunk two ships earlier this month after targeting them with a drone and ballistic and cruise missiles, resulting in the death and disappearance of several sailors who were on board the other ship that was targeted.
The spokesperson for the National Commission to Investigate Houthi Violations, Ishraq Al-Maqtari, wrote on her account on "X": "At seven o'clock this morning, the Houthis kidnapped an educator in the Al-Ghabrat isolation of the Mawiyah district east of Taiz from inside the school and took him to an unknown location for his family and students," while eyewitnesses reported that the Mawiyah district witnessed a wide campaign of kidnappings targeting educators and teachers yesterday.
Over the past two weeks, the Houthis have carried out extensive kidnappings in Al-Ibb governorate, targeting several educators, academics, and activists, including Quran teachers and a patient who lives with half a skull due to a traffic accident he suffered while leaving the hospital, in addition to tribal figures.
For his part, Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani stated: "The Houthi group continues its extensive campaign of kidnappings and enforced disappearances in Al-Ibb governorate, which has affected more than 65 citizens since last May, including local leaders, sheikhs, social dignitaries, religious figures, academics, doctors, engineers, lawyers, and educators, in a desperate attempt to break the will of the people of the governorate and subjugate them by force," emphasizing that the hysterical campaign reflects the panic and confusion the group is experiencing and its fear of meeting the fate of its predecessors among terrorist groups.
Al-Eryani urged tribal leaders, dignitaries of Al-Ibb, and all political, party, and civil leaders not to allow this group to tamper with the governorate and drag its sons into detention centers, asserting that history will not forgive those who fail to fulfill their national and moral responsibilities.
The Yemeni Minister of Information called on the international community and human rights organizations to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, take clear positions to condemn these violations, begin classifying the Houthi group as a terrorist organization, and support the legitimate government in asserting its control over all Yemeni territories, and ending the suffering of the Yemeni people who are under the weight of this terrorist gang.
