The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, hinted at the possibility of launching a preemptive strike against the West if necessary, according to his statements. He criticized the Western positions on the war in Ukraine in remarks to the Russian news agency "TASS" today (Thursday), describing them as misleading and hostile. Medvedev stated, "The West's statements about the possibility of a Russian attack on Europe are just nonsense," but he affirmed that "Russia must respond to the West and launch preemptive strikes if necessary." The Russian official considered that disarming Ukraine would save it from the bloody geopolitical games orchestrated by foreign powers.

He confirmed that the West is waging a real war against Russia, accusing "Western elites of continuing their quest for revenge against Russia in response to its past failures."

It is worth noting that Dmitry Medvedev is the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and previously served as President of Russia (2008–2012) and Prime Minister (2012–2020).

In recent years, Medvedev has been known for his fiery statements that include direct threats to NATO countries and sharp criticisms of the United States and the European Union, accusing them of igniting the war in Ukraine and fueling conflicts against Russia.

He often calls for the use of maximum force and indicates the possibility of using preemptive strikes and even nuclear weapons to defend Russia, as he puts it.
