أعلن مشروع مسام لنزع الألغام في اليمن اليوم (الثلاثاء) عن تمكن فرقه الهندسية الأسبوع الماضي من نزع 1171 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة، موضحاً إن الفرق نزعت منذ بداية الشهر الجاري 2730 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة.
وقال مدير عام مشروع «مسام» لنزع الألغام أسامة القصيبي، إن فرق المشروع تمكنت منذ انطلاقته وحتى يوم 11 يوليو الجاري من نزع 505.466 مادة متفجرة، شملت ألغاماً وذخائر غير منفجرة وعبوات ناسفة، موضحاً أن المواد التي تم التعامل معها تضمنت 343.570 ذخيرة غير منفجرة و8244 عبوة ناسفة، بالإضافة إلى 146.830 لغماً مضاداً للدبابات و6822 لغماً مضاداً للأفراد.
وأشار القصيبي إلى أن هذه الجهود تأتي في إطار العمل الإنساني الذي ينفذه مشروع «مسام» التابع لمركز الملك سلمان للأعمال والإغاثة الإنسانية، ويهدف لحماية الأرواح وإعادة الحياة إلى المناطق المتضررة من الألغام، التي تُعد من أكبر التهديدات التي تواجه المدنيين في اليمن، مبيناً أن الفرق الهندسية التابعة للمشروع تمكنت منذ انطلاقه وحتى التاريخ نفسه من تطهير أكثر من 68.338.920 متراً مربعاً من الأراضي اليمنية.
ولفت القصيبي إلى أن العمل جارٍ لتأمين المزيد من المناطق، وفتح المجال أمام الزراعة، والسكن، والتنمية.
ونجح مشروع «مسام» السعودي في أعادة الأمل للكثير من الأسر اليمنية التي حرمتها الحرب من الوصول إلى ممتلكاتها ومنازلها طوال السنوات الماضية جراء تفكيك المزارع والمنازل بالألغام من قبل الحوثيين، خصوصاً وأن المشروع لا يقتصر عمله على محافظة معينة أو منطقة بل ينشط في جميع المحافظات اليمنية والقرى وعلى طول الشريط الساحلي المحرر، ويحظى بترحيب وإشادة من مختلف شرائح المجتمع اليمني والمنظمات الدولية العاملة في اليمن.
ولا يقتصر عمل المشروع على نزع الألغام بل يقوم بمبادرات إنسانية منها التوعية بخطر الألغام في المدارس وداخل الأحياء وفي القرى والأرياف.
من جهة أخرى، كشفت منظمة «أنقذوا الأطفال»، عن تسبب الألغام الأرضية والذخائر غير المنفجرة في مقتل وإصابة 107 أشخاص خلال النصف الأول من العام الجاري 2025م في الأراضي اليمنية، مبينة أن الحادثة الأخيرة التي وقعت في تعز وأودت بحياة 5 أطفال أثناء لعبهم كرة القدم، يرفع عدد ضحايا الألغام من صغار السن إلى أكثر من 40 طفلاً ما يمثل 37% من إجمالي الضحايا.
The Masam project for mine clearance in Yemen announced today (Tuesday) that its engineering teams managed last week to clear 1,171 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, noting that the teams have cleared a total of 2,730 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices since the beginning of this month.
The Director General of the "Masam" mine clearance project, Osama Al-Qusaybi, stated that the project teams have managed to clear 505,466 explosive materials since its launch until July 11 of this year, including mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices. He clarified that the materials dealt with included 343,570 unexploded ordnance and 8,244 explosive devices, in addition to 146,830 anti-tank mines and 6,822 anti-personnel mines.
Al-Qusaybi pointed out that these efforts are part of the humanitarian work carried out by the "Masam" project, which is affiliated with the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Relief and Works, aiming to protect lives and restore life to areas affected by mines, which are among the greatest threats facing civilians in Yemen. He indicated that the engineering teams affiliated with the project have managed to clear more than 68,338,920 square meters of Yemeni land since its inception until the same date.
Al-Qusaybi noted that work is ongoing to secure more areas and open the way for agriculture, housing, and development.
The Saudi "Masam" project has succeeded in restoring hope to many Yemeni families who have been deprived by the war of access to their properties and homes over the past years due to the dismantling of farms and houses with mines by the Houthis. This is especially significant as the project does not limit its work to a specific governorate or area but operates in all Yemeni governorates and villages along the liberated coastal strip, receiving welcome and praise from various segments of Yemeni society and international organizations working in Yemen.
The project’s work is not limited to mine clearance; it also conducts humanitarian initiatives such as raising awareness about the dangers of mines in schools, neighborhoods, and rural areas.
On another note, the organization "Save the Children" revealed that landmines and unexploded ordnance caused the death and injury of 107 people during the first half of the current year 2025 in Yemeni territory. It indicated that the recent incident in Taiz, which claimed the lives of 5 children while they were playing football, raises the number of mine victims among young people to more than 40 children, representing 37% of the total victims.
