Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced today (Tuesday) that he has submitted his resignation from the position of Prime Minister. In the resignation request, which Shmyhal shared a photo of on his Telegram channel, he stated: "I ask you to accept my resignation from the position of Prime Minister of Ukraine."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Shmyhal will become the Minister of Defense in the new government after resigning from the Prime Minister position.

Since June, there has been increasing talk about Zelensky's office planning to dismiss the current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and appoint Yulia Svyrydenko in his place.

Zelensky had previously offered the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko the position of head of the Ukrainian government.

Yesterday, the Ukrainian president wrote on his Telegram channel after meeting with Svyrydenko: "I suggested that Yulia Svyrydenko take over as head of the Ukrainian government and radically update its work. I expect that she will present the new government's action plan in the near future."
