لليوم الرابع على التوالي، تواصل فرق الدفاع المدني السوري عملها لإخماد الحرائق في ريف اللاذقية، ودعا البرنامج السوري للتغير المناخي اليوم (الأحد) إلى إعلان حالة الطوارئ البيئية جراء الحرائق الضخمة التي تجتاح الغابات والتي تهدد المستقبل البيئي في سورية.
وأعرب البرنامج السوري للتغير المناخي في بيان عن بالغ القلق إزاء ما آلت إليه الأوضاع البيئية والإنسانية خلال الأيام الماضية، في ظل تصاعد موجة الحرائق غير المسبوقة التي تجتاح مناطق واسعة من محافظة اللاذقية وعموم أرجاء الوطن.
وكشفت الإحصاءات أن أكثر من 3000 حريق اندلعت خلال الأشهر الماضية، وأدت إلى احتراق أكثر من 5700 هكتار من الغابات الطبيعية والأراضي الزراعية، خصوصاً أن الكارثة تأتي في مناخ يتميز بارتفاع درجات الحرارة، وتزايد فترات الجفاف، وسرعة الرياح، ما يضع البيئة السورية في حالة هشاشة غير مسبوقة.
وقال وزير الطوارئ وإدارة الكوارث السوري رائد الصالح إن حماية المدنيين أولوية قصوى في جهود الاستجابة لإخماد الحرائق في الساحل السوري، موضحاً أن فرق الدفاع المدني تبذل قصارى جهدها لضمان سلامة السكان.
وأشار الصالح إلى أنه لم يتم تسجيل أي إصابات بين المدنيين حتى الآن وإنما هناك إصابة واحدة في صفوف فرق الدفاع المدني أثناء عمليات إطفاء الحرائق، وهي كسر في القدم، إضافة إلى بعض حالات الاختناق الطفيفة التي تم التعامل معها ميدانياً.
وأفصح عن مشاركة أكثر من 100 فريق من الدفاع المدني، من بينهم فرق من تركيا والأردن، وذلك في إطار تعاون يهدف إلى تعزيز قدرات الاستجابة السريعة واحتواء الحالة الطارئة التي تشهدها المنطقة.
ولفت الصالح إلى أن الحرائق أتت على نحو 10 آلاف هكتار في 28 موقعاً بالمنطقة، مبيناً أن جهود الإطفاء متواصلة بمشاركة 160 آلية إطفاء، و12 آلية هندسية ثقيلة تعمل على تقسيم الغابات إلى قطاعات يسهل التعامل معها وتفتح الطرق أمام سيارات الإطفاء.
For the fourth consecutive day, the Syrian Civil Defense teams continue their work to extinguish the fires in the countryside of Latakia. The Syrian Climate Change Program today (Sunday) called for the declaration of an environmental state of emergency due to the massive fires sweeping through the forests, which threaten the environmental future of Syria.
The Syrian Climate Change Program expressed deep concern in a statement regarding the environmental and humanitarian conditions that have deteriorated over the past few days, amid a surge of unprecedented wildfires sweeping across vast areas of Latakia province and throughout the country.
Statistics revealed that more than 3,000 fires have broken out in recent months, leading to the burning of over 5,700 hectares of natural forests and agricultural land, especially as the disaster comes in a climate characterized by rising temperatures, increasing drought periods, and strong winds, placing the Syrian environment in an unprecedented state of fragility.
Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Saleh stated that protecting civilians is a top priority in the efforts to respond to the fires on the Syrian coast, explaining that the Civil Defense teams are doing their utmost to ensure the safety of the residents.
Saleh noted that no civilian injuries have been reported so far, but there has been one injury among the Civil Defense teams during firefighting operations, which is a broken foot, in addition to some minor cases of suffocation that have been handled on-site.
He disclosed that more than 100 Civil Defense teams are participating, including teams from Turkey and Jordan, as part of a collaboration aimed at enhancing rapid response capabilities and containing the emergency situation in the region.
Saleh pointed out that the fires have consumed about 10,000 hectares in 28 locations in the area, indicating that firefighting efforts are ongoing with the participation of 160 firefighting vehicles and 12 heavy engineering vehicles working to divide the forests into sectors that are easier to manage and open roads for firefighting trucks.
