The institute's director, Dan Smith, stated: "We are seeing signs of a new nuclear arms race at a very dangerous time for geopolitics." He specifically warned against assigning artificial intelligence the task of deciding when to launch a nuclear bomb. Although Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, its allies Russia and China have over 6,000 nuclear bombs. The Stockholm Institute's report noted that Russia and China are intensifying their production of nuclear warheads, using new technology to replace older arsenals. However, experts fear that artificial intelligence could be integrated into modern nuclear launch systems, which could lead to the risks of a nuclear war igniting for unintended reasons due to potential technical errors, misunderstandings, or misinterpretations. Israel has never spoken about the possibility of using its nuclear arsenal against Iran. Israel maintains secrecy about its nuclear capabilities in what is known as "strategic ambiguity." It is worth mentioning that Pakistan is the only Muslim country that possesses nuclear weapons.
