The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the killing of a leader in the ISIS terrorist organization during an airstrike carried out in northwestern Syria. The command stated in a statement that its forces conducted a strike on June 10 in northwestern Syria, targeting Rahim Bouif, who is an official in "ISIS." It added that Bouif was involved in planning external operations that threaten American citizens, Washington's partners, and civilians.

CENTCOM noted that the operation is part of the U.S. Central Command's commitment, in cooperation with regional partners, to disrupt and thwart terrorists' efforts to plan and execute attacks against U.S. forces and their allies.

The Central Command did not provide additional details about the operation, and no comment has been issued by the Syrian government regarding the incident.

It is worth mentioning that on May 26, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of ISIS cells in the Damascus countryside and the seizure of light and medium weapons.

Since the overthrow of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, the Syrian security administration and relevant authorities continue to pursue those suspected of involvement in crimes, violations, and general terrorist activities.

Syrian factions established control over the country on December 8, 2024, thus ending more than 60 years of Ba'ath Party rule.
