يبدو أن صبر الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بدأ ينفد تجاه الملياردير إيلون ماسك، بعدما شنّ الأخير هجوماً لاذعاً على مشروع القانون الضخم للضرائب والإنفاق الذي أقرّه الجمهوريون.
ونقلت صحيفة وول ستريت جورنال عن مصادر داخل البيت الأبيض أن التوترات تصاعدت بعد أن قررت إدارة ترمب سحب ترشيح جاريد آيزاكمان، أحد حلفاء ماسك البارزين، لرئاسة وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية (ناسا).
وأضاف المصدر أن من المبكر تحديد ما إذا كانت العلاقة بين الرئيس وماسك ما تزال قوية، مشيراً إلى أن ترمب قادر على التسامح، لكنه لا ينسى.
وفيما وصف تقرير آخر الخلاف بأنه مجرد تباين في وجهات النظر ضمن علاقة منسجمة في مجملها. وأشار التقرير إلى أن ترمب لا يزال يسعى لتمرير مشروع القانون المعروف باسم OBBBA، رغم معارضة ماسك الشديدة له.
وكان ماسك انتقد الحزمة الاقتصادية التي يصفها ترمب بـ«المشروع الضخم والجميل»، معتبراً أن تمريرها «أمر غير مقبول».
وكتب في منشور عبر منصة «إكس»: «علينا قتل مشروع القانون قبل أن يولد. إفلاس أمريكا ليس خياراً».
وتأتي هذه التصريحات في وقت تتصاعد فيه مؤشرات التوتر بين ماسك والبيت الأبيض، وسط تحليلات تربط الهجوم بمواقف ترمب الأخيرة تجاه قطاع الابتكار، وتحديداً مجالات الفضاء والطاقة النظيفة التي لطالما تبنّاها ماسك.
ورغم الخلاف، لا يزال البيت الأبيض متمسكاً بالحزمة التي تتضمن تخفيضات في الإنفاق العام، إلى جانب زيادات ضريبية تستهدف قطاعات محددة، وتعد من أكبر التحركات الاقتصادية في عهد الإدارة الأمريكية الحالية.
من جانب آخر، صعّد ترمب من ضغوطه على مجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي، مطالباً بخفض فوري لأسعار الفائدة، وذلك عقب صدور تقرير الوظائف لشهر مايو، الذي أظهر تباطؤاً في وتيرة التوظيف في القطاع الخاص، ما اعتبره اقتصاديون مؤشراً على بداية تراجع زخم النمو الاقتصادي.
It seems that U.S. President Donald Trump’s patience is wearing thin with billionaire Elon Musk, after the latter launched a scathing attack on the massive tax and spending bill passed by the Republicans.
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources within the White House, that tensions escalated after the Trump administration decided to withdraw the nomination of Jared Isaacman, one of Musk's prominent allies, to head the U.S. space agency (NASA).
The source added that it is too early to determine whether the relationship between the president and Musk remains strong, noting that Trump is capable of forgiveness, but he does not forget.
Meanwhile, another report described the disagreement as merely a difference of opinion within an overall harmonious relationship. The report indicated that Trump is still seeking to pass the bill known as OBBBA, despite Musk's strong opposition to it.
Musk criticized the economic package that Trump describes as "the huge and beautiful project," considering its passage "unacceptable."
He wrote in a post on the platform "X": "We need to kill the bill before it is born. Bankruptcy for America is not an option."
These statements come at a time when indicators of tension between Musk and the White House are rising, amid analyses linking the attack to Trump's recent positions on the innovation sector, specifically in the fields of space and clean energy that Musk has long championed.
Despite the disagreement, the White House remains committed to the package, which includes cuts in public spending, along with tax increases targeting specific sectors, and is considered one of the largest economic moves under the current U.S. administration.
On another note, Trump has intensified his pressure on the Federal Reserve, calling for an immediate cut in interest rates, following the release of the May jobs report, which showed a slowdown in hiring in the private sector, something economists considered an indication of the beginning of a decline in economic growth momentum.
