أكد الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، اليوم (الأحد)، حضور وفد من كييف الجولة الثانية من المحادثات المباشرة مع روسيا في مدينة إسطنبول التركية غداً (الإثنين)، معلناً 3 مطالب من أجل المضي قدماً نحو تسوية لإنهاء الحرب.
وأوضح زيلينسكي بعد اجتماعه مع مسؤوليه أن الوفد الأوكراني سيرأسه وزير الدفاع رستم أوميروف، قائلاً: نبذل قصارى جهدنا لحماية استقلالنا ودولتنا وشعبنا، لقد أوضحت المهمات على المدى القريب وحددت أيضاً موقفنا قبل الاجتماع في إسطنبول (الإثنين).
وأشار إلى أن مطالب كييف تشمل وقف إطلاق نار كامل وغير مشروط، وإطلاق سراح الأسرى، وعودة الأطفال المختطفين.
في المقابل، ذكرت وسائل إعلام روسية أن الوفد الروسي غادر إلى إسطنبول لحضور الجولة القادمة من المحادثات مع أوكرانيا المزمع عقدها غداً.
وأوضح رئيس الوفد الروسي المفاوض فلاديمير ميدينسكي أنه اتصل بوزير الدفاع الأوكراني واقترح موعداً ومكاناً محددين للقاء لتبادل مذكرات التفاهم، وذلك بعد أن أعلن وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرجي لافروف (الأربعاء)، أن بلاده اقترحت على أوكرانيا عقد الجولة القادمة من المحادثات بين البلدين بمدينة إسطنبول التركية في 2 يونيو.
وأشار إلى أن وفد بلاده على استعداد لتقديم مذكرة إلى الوفد الأوكراني وتقديم التوضيحات اللازمة خلال الجولة الثانية من المفاوضات المباشرة المستأنفة في إسطنبول (الإثنين)، مشدداً بالقول: كما هو معروف، وبفضل دعم الولايات المتحدة والمملكة العربية السعودية وتركيا، أمكن تهيئة الظروف لاستئناف المفاوضات الروسية الأوكرانية المباشرة، وانعقدت الجولة الأولى بعد استئنافها في 16 مايو الجاري في إسطنبول، ووفقاً للاتفاقيات التي تم التوصل إليها هناك، جرى تبادل للأسرى وفق صيغة «ألف مقابل ألف»، وفي الوقت نفسه، اتُفق في إسطنبول على أن تُعدّ موسكو وكييف وثائق تُحدد موقف كل طرف من أجل التوصل إلى تسوية مستدامة.
وأشار إلى أنه وفقاً لما تم الاتفاق عليه، سارع الجانب الروسي إلى إعداد مذكرة تفاهم تُحدد موقف موسكو من جميع جوانب التغلب على الأسباب الجذرية للأزمة بشكل موثوق.
ونقلت وسائل إعلام غربية، عن 3 مصادر روسية مطلعة على سير المفاوضات، قولها إن الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين يشترط لإنهاء الحرب في أوكرانيا أن يتعهد القادة الغربيون «خطياً» بوقف توسع حلف شمال الأطلسي «الناتو» شرقاً، ورفع جزء من العقوبات المفروضة على روسيا، فيما ألمح الكرملين إلى أن هناك إمكانية لعقد لقاء بين بوتين ونظيره الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، لكن ينبغي أن يكون نتيجة لاتفاقيات محددة بين موسكو وكييف.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed today (Sunday) that a delegation from Kyiv will attend the second round of direct talks with Russia in Istanbul, Turkey, tomorrow (Monday), announcing three demands to move forward towards a settlement to end the war.
Zelensky explained after his meeting with his officials that the Ukrainian delegation will be headed by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, stating: "We are doing our utmost to protect our independence, our state, and our people. I have clarified the tasks for the short term and also defined our position before the meeting in Istanbul (Monday)."
He indicated that Kyiv's demands include a complete and unconditional ceasefire, the release of prisoners, and the return of abducted children.
In contrast, Russian media reported that the Russian delegation has departed for Istanbul to attend the upcoming round of talks with Ukraine scheduled for tomorrow.
Russian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky explained that he contacted the Ukrainian Defense Minister and proposed a specific time and place for a meeting to exchange memoranda of understanding, after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Wednesday that his country proposed holding the next round of talks between the two countries in Istanbul on June 2.
He noted that his delegation is prepared to present a memorandum to the Ukrainian delegation and provide the necessary clarifications during the second round of resumed direct negotiations in Istanbul (Monday), emphasizing: "As is known, thanks to the support of the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, conditions have been created to resume direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations, and the first round was held after its resumption on May 16 in Istanbul. According to the agreements reached there, a prisoner exchange took place in the format of 'one thousand for one thousand', and at the same time, it was agreed in Istanbul that Moscow and Kyiv would prepare documents outlining each party's position to reach a sustainable settlement."
He pointed out that according to what was agreed upon, the Russian side hastened to prepare a memorandum of understanding that reliably outlines Moscow's position on all aspects of overcoming the root causes of the crisis.
Western media reported, citing three Russian sources familiar with the negotiations, that Russian President Vladimir Putin conditions the end of the war in Ukraine on Western leaders committing "in writing" to halt the eastward expansion of NATO, and lifting some of the sanctions imposed on Russia. Meanwhile, the Kremlin hinted at the possibility of a meeting between Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, but it should be the result of specific agreements between Moscow and Kyiv.
