في توسع للخلاف الداخلي الإسرائيلي ووصوله إلى السلك الدبلوماسي في الخارج، أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الإسرائيلية، اليوم (الأحد)، استدعاء سفيرها في واشنطن بناء على تعليمات هيئة تأديبية حكومية لمناقشة تصريحات أدلى بها في مقابلة «بودكاست».
واتهم السفير يحيئيل لايتر في برنامج إذاعي على منصة «برايغر-يو» الأمريكية اليمينية على الإنترنت، معارضي رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو بالإفتراء بدموية على رئيس الحكومة، مشيراً إلى أن من أسماهم «المتطرفين اليساريين» ووسائل الإعلام الإسرائيلية يحاولون الإطاحة بحكومة نتنياهو.
وقال السفير: «المتطرفون لن يتوانوا عن فعل أي شيء لإسقاط نتنياهو، وهذه افتراءات يجب فضحها»، رافضاً أي اتهامات موجهة لرئيس الوزراء بسعيه لإطالة أمد الحرب في غزة من أجل البقاء في السلطة ووصفها بأنها «جنون»، متسائلاً: «كيف يجرؤون على قول شيء بهذا الخبث؟».
وأشار متحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الإسرائيلية إلى إن المدير العام لوزارة الخارجية عيدن بار تال سيستدعي السفير في واشنطن يحيئيل لايتر لجلسة استماع بشأن تصريحات أدلى بها خلال مقابلة إعلامية، مبيناً إن ذلك جاء بناء على تعليمات إدارة الانضباط في ديوان الخدمة المدنية.
ورغم أن منصب السفير الإسرائيلي في الولايات المتحدة هو تعيين سياسي وأن نتنياهو هو من اختار لايتر، لكن يجب أن يمتنع الدبلوماسيون الإسرائيليون عن الإدلاء بتصريحات سياسية.
وكان استطلاع للرأي نشرته القناة الـ12 الإخبارية الإسرائيلية أمس قد أظهر أن 55% من الإسرائيليين يعتقدون أن نتنياهو مهتم بالبقاء في السلطة أكثر من إنهاء الحرب أو تحرير الأسرى الذين لا يزالون محتجزين في غزة.
من جهة أخرى، قالت هيئة البث الإسرائيلية إن هناك صداماً بين وزارة المالية والمؤسسة العسكرية بسبب زيادة النفقات لتوسيع القتال بغزة، مبينة أن وزير المالية سموتريتش وبّخ المؤسسة الأمنية بسبب ارتفاع النفقات لتوسع القتال في مناقشة عقدها نتنياهو، خصوصاً أن النفقات تجاوزت ميزانيته بـ4 مليارات دولار في هذه المرحلة من العام.

In an expansion of the internal Israeli conflict reaching the diplomatic sphere abroad, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced today (Sunday) the recall of its ambassador in Washington based on instructions from a government disciplinary body to discuss statements he made in a podcast interview.
Ambassador Yahiya Leiter accused opponents of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a radio program on the right-wing American platform "Brighter-U" of bloodily slandering the head of government, pointing out that those he referred to as "leftist extremists" and Israeli media are trying to overthrow Netanyahu's government.
The ambassador stated: "The extremists will not hesitate to do anything to bring down Netanyahu, and these are slanders that must be exposed," rejecting any accusations directed at the Prime Minister of seeking to prolong the war in Gaza to remain in power, describing them as "madness," and questioning: "How dare they say something so malicious?"
A spokesperson for the Israeli Foreign Ministry indicated that the Director-General of the Foreign Ministry, Eden Bar Tal, will summon the ambassador in Washington, Yahiya Leiter, for a hearing regarding statements he made during a media interview, noting that this came based on instructions from the disciplinary management in the Civil Service Bureau.
Although the position of the Israeli ambassador in the United States is a political appointment and Netanyahu chose Leiter, Israeli diplomats must refrain from making political statements.
A poll published by Channel 12 Israeli News yesterday showed that 55% of Israelis believe that Netanyahu is more interested in staying in power than in ending the war or freeing the prisoners still held in Gaza.
On another note, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that there is a clash between the Ministry of Finance and the military establishment due to increased expenses for expanding the fighting in Gaza, indicating that Finance Minister Smotrich reprimanded the security establishment for rising costs to expand the fighting during a discussion held by Netanyahu, especially since expenses have exceeded his budget by $4 billion at this stage of the year.
