The "Google" search engine has witnessed significant pressure to find an Arab country where the Israeli researcher kidnapped in Iraq, Elizabeth Tsurkov, has been deposited for safekeeping until the ongoing negotiations for her release are concluded.
No researchers or intelligence agencies have been able to identify this country despite all the American, Israeli, and Russian pressures.
An informed source revealed the latest developments in the case and the negotiations that recently began for her release as part of arrangements being made among multiple Iraqi, Iranian, and American parties.
The source stated that the negotiations regarding Tsurkov have moved to new developments. After the Iraqi Prime Minister ordered that government entities not intervene in this case, the negotiating parties from the American side requested intervention to secure the release of several individuals, most notably a Hezbollah member (Imad Amhaz) who was kidnapped by Israeli commandos along with others, numbering no more than five, including two Iranians.
According to the source, the negotiations initially took place between American parties, Iraqi officials, and representatives of the kidnapping group, and included discussions about a ransom, as the kidnappers initially demanded $500 million, which later decreased to $200 million. However, the Americans refuse to pay, considering that the ransom would go to fund the kidnapping group or legitimize its activities, which altered the course of the negotiations, according to the source.
The source confirmed the safety of the kidnapped Tsurkov, who is currently in a neutral country, and it is possible that next week will witness the release of the prisoners held by Israel in exchange for the release of the kidnapped individual, who is in good health and is currently being held by an intermediary Arab country that guarantees her safety.
The Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post" revealed that there has been significant progress in the ongoing negotiations for the release of the Israeli-Russian researcher Elizabeth Tsurkov, who has been held in Iraq for over two years.
It mentioned in its report that "the proposed deal includes the release of Tsurkov in exchange for the release of an Iranian detainee held in Iraq, along with six other individuals, as part of undisclosed understandings between Baghdad and Washington."
For his part, a senior American official stated that there has been no progress in the talks for the release of Elizabeth Tsurkov in Iraq, according to what was reported by "Axios."
The official confirmed that reports published by various media outlets about reaching an agreement are incorrect and that the United States will not agree to the release of the Iranian citizen who killed an American in Iraq.
