قبل يوم من موعد عقد الجولة الخامسة من المفاوضات النووية التي ستعقد في روما، أبلغ وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش أن طهران ستعتبر الولايات المتحدة متورطة في أي هجوم إسرائيلي على المنشآت النووية الإيرانية.
وأوضح عراقجي أن الولايات المتحدة تتفاوض مع بلاده لأنها يئست من تأثير العقوبات، قائلاً خلال ندوة إقليمية حول الدبلوماسية الاقتصادية، اليوم (الخميس)، إن مهمة دائرة الدبلوماسية الاقتصادية والسفارات الإيرانية في الخارج هي تسهيل الأمور وإزالة العقبات.
وأضاف: «العقوبات تُعد واحدة من أكبر العقبات، ومهمة وزارة الخارجية تكمن في السعي من أجل رفعها»، مطالباً من أسماه الطرف المقابل برفع العقوبات.
وأشار إلى أن مسؤولية تحييد العقوبات أثرها أو الالتفاف عليها تقع على عاتق بلاده، مبيناً أن طهران إذا أرادت أن تسير المفاوضات بشكل جيّد مع من يفرضون العقوبات، فعليها أولاً أن تجعلهم ييأسون من سلاح العقوبات.
وتابع وزير الخارجية الإيراني قائلاً: «لا نقول إن العقوبات لم تُسبب مشقّة أو لم تخلق نقصاً، لكنها بفضل عزيمة الإيرانيين وتعاون التجار والمواطنين لم تستطع أن تصيب البلاد بالشلل».
وكان المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف قد شدد على أن بلاده لن تسمح لإيران بالتخصيب حتى بنسبة 1%.
وكان مسؤولون أمريكيون قد ذكروا لـ«سي إن إن» أن الولايات المتحدة تلقت معلومات استخباراتية جديدة تشير إلى أن إسرائيل تُجري تحضيرات لضرب منشآت نووية إيرانية.
One day before the fifth round of nuclear negotiations scheduled to be held in Rome, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that Tehran would consider the United States involved in any Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Araghchi explained that the United States is negotiating with his country because it has despaired of the impact of sanctions, stating during a regional seminar on economic diplomacy today (Thursday) that the mission of the Economic Diplomacy Department and Iranian embassies abroad is to facilitate matters and remove obstacles.
He added, "Sanctions are one of the biggest obstacles, and the mission of the Foreign Ministry is to strive for their removal," calling on what he referred to as the opposing party to lift the sanctions.
He pointed out that the responsibility for neutralizing the impact of sanctions or circumventing them lies with his country, indicating that if Tehran wants to conduct negotiations well with those imposing sanctions, it must first make them despair of the weapon of sanctions.
The Iranian Foreign Minister continued, saying, "We do not say that sanctions have not caused hardship or created shortages, but thanks to the determination of the Iranians and the cooperation of traders and citizens, they have not been able to paralyze the country."
U.S. envoy Steve Wietkoff emphasized that his country will not allow Iran to enrich uranium even by 1%.
U.S. officials had mentioned to CNN that the United States received new intelligence indicating that Israel is preparing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities.
