The American network "CNN" reported that Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, stated that Israeli embassies are on high alert following the shooting that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli diplomats in the U.S. capital, Washington. The American police confirmed that the victims, Yaron Lechinski and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were killed by a man who shouted "freedom for Palestine."

Israeli embassy spokesperson in Washington, Tal Cohen, confirmed that the employees were affiliated with the embassy, explaining that two Israeli embassy staff members were shot while attending an event at the Jewish Heritage Museum in Washington, D.C.

The embassy spokesperson told CNN that the Israeli ambassador was not at the scene of the incident. Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Yihyeh Leiter, stated that the two young people who were killed were about to get engaged, noting that the young man had bought a ring this week with the intention of proposing to his girlfriend next week in Jerusalem, while Germany stated that the deceased Israeli also holds German citizenship.

The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security stated on the platform "X": "Two Israeli embassy staff members were killed tonight near the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. We have begun an investigation and are working to gather more information to share," adding, "We will bring the perpetrator of the attack to justice."

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Acting Attorney General of Washington, D.C., Janine Piro, visited the scene of the incident.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed condolences to the families of the victims and blamed the clear anti-Semitism, saying, "Hatred and extremism have no place in the United States. It is very sad that such things happen."

The event where the shooting took place at the Jewish Museum in the capital aimed to bring together young Jewish professionals and the diplomatic corps, and the American Jewish Committee, the organizing body, announced that it was open to those working in the diplomatic corps in Washington, D.C.

The theme of the event was titled "Turning Pain into Purpose."
