قُتل اثنان من موظفي السفارة الإسرائيلية بالعاصمة الأمريكية في إطلاق نار بالقرب من فعالية بالمتحف اليهودي في واشنطن العاصمة مساء أمس (الأربعاء).
وقالت وزيرة الأمن الداخلي الأمريكية كريستي نويم في منشور على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي: «قُتل موظفان في السفارة الإسرائيلية عبثاً الليلة بالقرب من المتحف اليهودي في واشنطن».
وأضافت: «نجري تحقيقاً حثيثاً ونعمل على جمع المزيد من المعلومات لمشاركتها، ونرجو منكم الدعاء لعائلات الضحايا، وسنقدم هذا الجاني الفاسد إلى العدالة».
وتُجري الشرطة تحقيقاً في حادثة إطلاق نار وقعت قبالة مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي، ويقع المتحف اليهودي أيضاً في مكان قريب، وتتعاون السفارة الإسرائيلية مع جهات إنفاذ القانون.
ونقلت شبكة CNN عن متحدث باسم السفارة أن السفير الإسرائيلي لم يكن موجوداً في موقع الحادثة وقت وقوعها.
وعلق السفير الإسرائيلي لدى الأمم المتحدة داني دانون على تقارير عن إطلاق النار عبر منصة إكس: «إطلاق النار المميت الذي وقع خارج فعالية أقيمت في المتحف اليهودي في واشنطن، الذي أصيب فيه أيضاً موظفو السفارة الإسرائيلية، هو عمل إرهابي معادٍ للسامية».
وأعلنت المدعية العامة بام بوندي في منشور على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي أنها وصلت هي ووكيلة المدعي العام في واشنطن جانين بيرو إلى موقع إطلاق النار.
وذكر الرئيس التنفيذي للجنة اليهودية الأمريكية تيد دويتش أن منظمته كانت تستضيف فعالية في المتحف مساء الأربعاء.
وقال في بيان: «نشعر بحزن عميق لوقوع هذا العمل العنيف المريع خارج مكان الفعالية»، وأضاف: «في هذه اللحظة، وبينما ننتظر المزيد من المعلومات من الشرطة حول ما حدث بالضبط، فإن اهتمامنا وقلوبنا مع الضحايا وعائلاتهم».
Two employees of the Israeli embassy in the U.S. capital were killed in a shooting near an event at the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. last night (Wednesday).
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen said in a social media post: “Two employees of the Israeli embassy were killed senselessly tonight near the Jewish Museum in Washington.”
She added: “We are conducting a thorough investigation and working to gather more information to share, and we ask you to pray for the victims' families, and we will bring this corrupt perpetrator to justice.”
The police are investigating the shooting incident that occurred near the FBI office, and the Jewish Museum is also located nearby, with the Israeli embassy cooperating with law enforcement.
CNN reported that a spokesperson for the embassy stated that the Israeli ambassador was not present at the scene of the incident at the time it occurred.
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon commented on reports of the shooting via X platform: “The deadly shooting that took place outside an event held at the Jewish Museum in Washington, where Israeli embassy employees were also injured, is a terrorist act that is anti-Semitic.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced in a social media post that she and Washington Deputy Attorney General Janine Piro arrived at the shooting site.
The CEO of the American Jewish Committee, Ted Deutch, mentioned that his organization was hosting an event at the museum on Wednesday evening.
He said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by this horrific act of violence outside the event venue,” adding: “At this moment, while we await more information from the police about exactly what happened, our thoughts and hearts are with the victims and their families.”
