أعلن وزير الثقافة الأمير بدر بن عبدالله بن فرحان آل سعود انضمام مدينتي الرياض والمدينة المنورة رسميًا إلى شبكة اليونسكو للمدن المبدعة، في خطوة تعكس ازدهار المشهد الثقافي والإبداعي في المملكة ضمن مسار رؤية السعودية 2030.
وجاءت الرياض ضمن المدن المبدعة في مجال التصميم، بينما حجزت المدينة المنورة مكانها في مجال فنون الطهي، لتواصلا مسيرة المدن السعودية التي نالت اعتراف المنظمة الدولية في السنوات الأخيرة.
وقالت المديرة العامة لليونسكو أودري أزولاي إن المدن المنضوية تحت الشبكة «رائدة في قدرتها على تسخير الإبداع لخدمة التنمية الحضرية»، مشيرة إلى أن الإبداع أصبح اليوم ركيزة أساسية لتحسين جودة الحياة في المدن حول العالم.
وانضمت الأحساء عام 2015 إلى الشبكة في مجال الحرف والفنون الشعبية، تلتها بريدة عام 2021 في مجال فنون الطهي، لتؤكد المملكة حضورها الثقافي المتنوع في قائمة المدن العالمية المبدعة.
وتُعد شبكة المدن المبدعة التابعة لليونسكو منصة دولية تضم مدنًا حول العالم تميّزت بتسخير التنوع الثقافي والإبداع الصناعي كركائز للتنمية المستدامة. وتشمل الشبكة سبعة مجالات رئيسية هي: الحرف والفنون الشعبية، والتصميم، والأدب، وفنون الطهي، والفنون الإعلامية، والموسيقى، والأفلام.
وتهدف الشبكة إلى تعزيز التعاون بين المدن المبدعة وتبادل الخبرات ودعم الصناعات الثقافية، إلى جانب تمكين المبدعين وتوسيع الفرص أمامهم في شتى القطاعات، بما يسهم في بناء مدن أكثر استدامة وابتكارًا وتواصلاً إنسانيًا.
Culture Minister Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud announced the official inclusion of the cities of Riyadh and Medina into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, in a move that reflects the flourishing cultural and creative scene in the Kingdom as part of Saudi Vision 2030.
Riyadh was recognized as a creative city in the field of design, while Medina secured its place in the culinary arts, continuing the journey of Saudi cities that have gained recognition from the international organization in recent years.
The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, stated that the cities within the network are "pioneers in their ability to harness creativity for urban development," noting that creativity has become a fundamental pillar for improving the quality of life in cities around the world.
Al-Ahsa joined the network in 2015 in the field of crafts and folk arts, followed by Buraidah in 2021 in the culinary arts, confirming the Kingdom's diverse cultural presence in the list of global creative cities.
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network is an international platform that includes cities around the world distinguished by their use of cultural diversity and industrial creativity as pillars for sustainable development. The network encompasses seven main areas: crafts and folk arts, design, literature, culinary arts, media arts, music, and film.
The network aims to enhance cooperation among creative cities, exchange experiences, and support cultural industries, as well as empower creators and expand opportunities for them across various sectors, contributing to the building of more sustainable, innovative, and human-connected cities.
