ضربت الرياح العاتية اليوم (الخميس) مساحات واسعة من نيوزيلندا للمرة الثانية خلال أسبوع ، وأدت إلى إلغاء أكثر من 200 رحلة جوية عبر نيوزيلندا، وإلى انقطاع الكهرباء، وإغلاق المدارس.
وكانت الرياح في أقوى مستوياتها في «نورث أيلاند» السفلى، حيث تقع العاصمة ويلنغتون وفي أجزاء من «ساوث أيلاند» بما في ذلك مدينة «كرايستشرش».
وأصدرت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية «ميت سرفيس» تحذيرًا نادرًا من الرياح «أحمر» اللون، وهو أعلى إنذار لعديد من المناطق. ولم يتم تسجيل أي وفيات أو إصابات خطيرة.
Strong winds hit large areas of New Zealand today (Thursday) for the second time in a week, leading to the cancellation of more than 200 flights across New Zealand, power outages, and school closures.
The winds were at their strongest in the lower North Island, where the capital Wellington is located, and in parts of the South Island including the city of Christchurch.
The Meteorological Service issued a rare "red" wind warning, the highest alert for many areas. No fatalities or serious injuries have been reported.
