شاركت البعثة الدائمة للمملكة العربية السعودية لدى منظمة الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الدولية بجنيف، في الحدث رفيع المستوى الذي أقامته اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، بمناسبة إطلاق التقرير الخاص بالمرحلة الأولى من المبادرة العالمية لتجديد الالتزام السياسي بالقانون الدولي الإنساني.
وفي مداخلة المملكة، أكد المدير العام للإدارة العامة للشؤون الإنسانية بوزارة الخارجية الدكتور سالم القحطاني، إيمان المملكة بأهمية الامتثال لقواعد القانون الدولي الإنساني، بما يسهم في تعزيز الأمن والاستقرار والسلام، وصون كرامة الإنسان، مشددًا على أهمية تكاتف جهود المجتمع الدولي لترسيخ مكانة القانون الدولي الإنساني والمبادئ الإنسانية.
وأوضح الدكتور القحطاني أن المملكة سارعت بالانضمام إلى المبادرة العالمية لتجديد الالتزام السياسي بالقانون الدولي الإنساني، وتشارك في رئاسة مسار العمل الثالث منها المتعلق بـ«القانون الدولي الإنساني والسلام»، إلى جانب كلٍّ من دولة قطر، وجمهورية بنجلاديش الشعبية، وجمهورية كولومبيا، وجمهورية إثيوبيا الفيدرالية الديمقراطية.
وجدد التأكيد أن المملكة تولي اهتمامًا بالغًا بالعمل مع اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر والمنظمات الإنسانية والشركاء الدوليين، وتستثمر مختلف المنصات والفعاليات الإنسانية الدولية من خلال المشاركة الفاعلة للدفع والتأكيد للحلول السلمية للأزمات الدولية.
The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva participated in the high-level event organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross, on the occasion of the launch of the report on the first phase of the global initiative to renew political commitment to international humanitarian law.
In the Kingdom's intervention, the Director General of the General Administration for Humanitarian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Salem Al-Qahtani, affirmed the Kingdom's belief in the importance of complying with the rules of international humanitarian law, which contributes to enhancing security, stability, and peace, and preserving human dignity, emphasizing the importance of the international community's collective efforts to establish the status of international humanitarian law and humanitarian principles.
Dr. Al-Qahtani explained that the Kingdom was quick to join the global initiative to renew political commitment to international humanitarian law and participates in co-chairing its third work stream related to "international humanitarian law and peace," alongside the State of Qatar, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of Colombia, and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
He reiterated that the Kingdom places great importance on working with the International Committee of the Red Cross, humanitarian organizations, and international partners, and invests in various international humanitarian platforms and events through active participation to promote and affirm peaceful solutions to international crises.
