أعلنت شركة كولناغي - التي تعد أقدم دار في العالم لبيع اللوحات والتحف - أنها قررت فتح فرع لها في العاصمة السعودية الرياض.
وذكرت صحيفة «ذا آرت نيوزبايبر»، أن كولناغي أسست في عام 1760، وأنها ظلت تتخذ لندن مقراً لها منذ القرن الثامن عشر.
وتعتبر إحدى أهم صالات عرض اللوحات والأثريات السابقة للقرن الـ20.
وسيكون فرع الرياض رابع فروع هذه الدار الفنية العريقة، بعد لندن، ونيويورك، ومدريد. وستكون أول شركة متخصصة في عرض وبيع اللوحات القديمة تلتحق بالمنافسة في سوق اللوحات والتحف السعودية الواعدة.
وذكرت الصحيفة الفنية، أنه يوجد عدد من الأشخاص المهتمين باقتناء لوحات العهود القديمة، غير أن معظم المزادات الفنية في الرياض تهتم بالفن المعاصر، على الصعيدين الإقليمي والعالمي.
وكانت شركة سوثبي للمزادات الفنية أقامت مزاداً في الدرعية بالرياض في فبراير الماضي، ليسع لوحات تمثل الفن الحديث والمعاصر، إلى جانب لوحات عدد من فناني الحداثة العرب.
وستقيم شركة بونهامز معرضاً ومناسبة في الرياض من 8 إلى 10 أكتوبر الجاري، سيكون تركيزهما على جذور الحداثة الفنية السعودية. ونقلت الصحيفة عن مصدر محلي قوله، إنه يتوقع أن تعنى كولناغي ببيع اللوحات والأعمال الفنية الإسلامية، التي تثير اهتمام قطاع واسع من المعنيين بهذه السوق.
وكانت وزارة الثقافة السعودية أعلنت - خلال مؤتمر الاستثمار الثقافي السعودي، الذي عقد من 29 إلى 30 سبتمبر الماضي - قدوم كولناغي إلى الرياض.
Colnaghi, the world's oldest gallery for selling paintings and antiques, has announced its decision to open a branch in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The Art Newspaper reported that Colnaghi was founded in 1760 and has been based in London since the 18th century.
It is considered one of the most important galleries for paintings and antiquities prior to the 20th century.
The Riyadh branch will be the fourth location for this prestigious art house, following London, New York, and Madrid. It will be the first company specializing in the display and sale of old paintings to join the competition in the promising Saudi art and antiques market.
The art newspaper noted that there are several individuals interested in acquiring paintings from ancient eras; however, most art auctions in Riyadh focus on contemporary art, both regionally and globally.
Sotheby’s held an auction in Diriyah, Riyadh, last February, featuring paintings representing modern and contemporary art, alongside works by several Arab modernist artists.
Bonhams will hold an exhibition and event in Riyadh from October 8 to 10, focusing on the roots of Saudi artistic modernity. The newspaper quoted a local source as saying that Colnaghi is expected to focus on selling Islamic paintings and artworks, which attract the interest of a wide sector involved in this market.
The Saudi Ministry of Culture announced during the Saudi Cultural Investment Conference, held from September 29 to 30, that Colnaghi is coming to Riyadh.
