شارك وزير الدولة للشؤون الخارجية عضو مجلس الوزراء ومبعوث شؤون المناخ عادل بن أحمد الجبير، بنيويورك يوم أمس الخميس، في فعالية بشأن الجفاف والتي نظمتها وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة حوّل تسريع العمل العالمي لاستعادة الأراضي والقدرة على مواجهة الجفاف، وذلك على هامش أعمال الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في دورتها الثمانين.
وتهدف الفعالية إلى إبراز أهمية إعادة تأهيل الأراضي والتصدي للجفاف باعتبارهما تحديين عالميين يؤثران على البيئة والاقتصاد وصحة المجتمعات، مع التركيز على تعزيز التعاون المشترك لتمكين الأجندة البيئية العالمية، ودعم البرامج والتمويل المتكامل بما يحقق المنافع للمجتمع والبيئة.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, a member of the Council of Ministers and Climate Affairs Envoy, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, participated yesterday, Thursday, in New York, in an event on drought organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture regarding accelerating global efforts to restore lands and enhance resilience to drought, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The event aims to highlight the importance of land rehabilitation and addressing drought as two global challenges that impact the environment, economy, and community health, with a focus on enhancing joint cooperation to empower the global environmental agenda, and supporting integrated programs and financing to achieve benefits for society and the environment.
