The General Transport Authority has proposed amendments to the postal system, which include imposing a fine of no more than 5 million riyals on violators of the system's provisions. The Authority attributed the amendments to improving service quality and compliance with regulations, as well as achieving a balance between oversight and development. Among the stipulated penalties are warnings and granting a grace period for minor violations, suspending the service related to the violation, and suspending or preventing the renewal of the license and the suspension of exemptions. The amendments proposed imposing a fine for each day the violator continues their violation, provided that the total fines do not exceed 10% of the fine amount, and a violation is considered repeated if it occurs within a year from the date of the previous violation. A committee, which includes a legal or regulatory specialist, will handle violations and decide on objections to penalties, and the violator has the right to contest the violation and appeal the committee's decision before the competent court within 60 days from the date they are notified of the decision.
