تعمل بلدية محافظة الجبيل، بالتعاون مع مرور المحافظة، على وضع خطط تطوير لطريق الملك عبدالعزيز الممتد من دوار الحمراء حتى دوار الميناء، والذي يعد من أهم الشرايين الحيوية في المحافظة.
وتشمل خطط التطوير إلغاء 6 إشارات مرورية بهدف تحسين انسيابية الحركة، وتعزيز السلامة المرورية، ودعم استمرارية السير دون توقف، مع تحسين الأرصفة والمسارات المخصصة للمشاة وراكبي الدراجات بما يسهم في تقليل الانبعاثات والتلوث، ورفع مستوى المشهد الحضري.
وتأتي مبادرة أنسنة طريق الملك عبدالعزيز كإحدى الركائز الأساسية في المشروع، إذ تهدف إلى إعادة تعريف علاقة الإنسان بالفراغ العام عبر خلق بيئة آمنة ومتكاملة تراعي احتياجات جميع فئات المجتمع من أطفال وكبار سن وذوي إعاقة وتسهم في تعزيز التفاعل الاجتماعي وتنشيط الاقتصاد المحلي ورفع جودة الحياة.
ويمتد المشروع بطول 12 كيلومتراً، ويشمل إعادة تصميم مواقف السيارات بطريقة أكثر كفاءة وتنظيما، إضافة إلى مسارات دوران خلفي تسهم في تسهيل حركة المركبات دون التأثير على تدفق السير مما يسهم في تقليص زمن الرحلة من 18 دقيقة و23 ثانية إلى 9 دقائق و17 ثانية بنسبة انخفاض تصل إلى 50%.
وتتضمن الخطط أيضا رفع كفاءة الطرق الأخرى من خلال إلغاء دوار وإشارة مرورية على طريق الملك فيصل الشمالي، وإلغاء 3 إشارات مرورية على طريق الملك فيصل الغربي ليصبح إجمالي الإشارات الملغاة في المحافظة 10 إشارات يتم استبدالها بمسارات دوران خلفي آمنة تحقق انسيابية أكبر لحركة النقل.
ونوه المهندس بادي بن فهيد القحطاني إلى أن هذه الجهود تجسد التزام البلدية بمواصلة مسيرة التطوير والتحسين لشبكة الطرق، وتقديم خدمات حضرية متقدمة تواكب تطلعات المجتمع وتسهم في خلق بيئة حضرية أكثر جودة وسلاسة.
The Municipality of Jubail Governorate, in collaboration with the traffic department of the governorate, is working on development plans for King Abdulaziz Road, which extends from Al-Hamra Roundabout to the Port Roundabout, and is considered one of the most vital arteries in the governorate.
The development plans include the removal of 6 traffic signals aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing road safety, and supporting uninterrupted movement, along with improving sidewalks and dedicated paths for pedestrians and cyclists, which contributes to reducing emissions and pollution, and elevating the urban landscape.
The "Humanizing King Abdulaziz Road" initiative comes as one of the fundamental pillars of the project, aiming to redefine the relationship between people and public space by creating a safe and integrated environment that considers the needs of all community segments, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, and contributes to enhancing social interaction, stimulating the local economy, and improving quality of life.
The project extends over a length of 12 kilometers and includes redesigning parking lots in a more efficient and organized manner, in addition to rear-turn lanes that facilitate vehicle movement without affecting traffic flow, thereby reducing travel time from 18 minutes and 23 seconds to 9 minutes and 17 seconds, achieving a reduction of up to 50%.
The plans also include enhancing the efficiency of other roads by removing a roundabout and a traffic signal on King Faisal Road North, and removing 3 traffic signals on King Faisal Road West, bringing the total number of signals removed in the governorate to 10, which will be replaced with safe rear-turn lanes that achieve greater traffic flow.
Engineer Badi bin Fahid Al-Qahtani noted that these efforts embody the municipality's commitment to continue the development and improvement of the road network, and to provide advanced urban services that meet community aspirations and contribute to creating a higher quality and smoother urban environment.
