The monitoring and investigation teams of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority conducted 5,949 inspection visits in July, covering 4,608 establishments under its supervision. The regulatory teams identified 1,137 violating establishments, closed 54 of them, suspended 52 production lines, and withdrew 991 samples, reflecting the growing effectiveness of the Authority's regulatory system and its commitment to subjecting the establishments and products under its supervision to the approved regulations and standards, in order to raise compliance levels and prevent the circulation of non-compliant products.
The Authority prevented the entry of 40 tons of frozen poultry products into the Kingdom after laboratory analysis results indicated contamination with Salmonella bacteria, which contradicts the approved Saudi technical specifications. Additionally, the regulatory teams discovered an establishment storing expired cosmetic products and medical devices inside a residential apartment, along with containers bearing labels with expiration dates and operational numbers that differed from those printed at the factory on the original containers. Consequently, the violating products were confiscated, and the relevant parties were summoned to complete the legal procedures and apply financial penalties against the importers, seizing 4,830 containers.
In the same context, the teams monitored a bakery using expired food materials and others showing signs of mold in the production of cakes and baked goods, which necessitated the confiscation and seizure of those materials, in addition to taking legal action against the violators.
On another note, the Authority's inspectors, during monitoring and investigation operations, identified a warehouse that resumed activity after being prohibited and closed for the second time by the "Food and Drug Authority" due to its failure to obtain permission from the relevant regulatory authorities. The establishment was immediately closed, and the remaining legal procedures were completed.
