من جدائل النخيل نسجت منطقة القصيم إرثها في صناعة الخوص، فتجاوزت الحرفة اليدوية التقليدية حدود الماضي لتجد لنفسها مكاناً حاضراً، يجمع بين قيمة الموروث واهتمام الحرفيين والزوار في «كرنفال بريدة للتمور».
وشهد ركن الحرف اليدوية في «الكرنفال» إقبالاً لافتاً من المهتمين بالتراث، واستعرضت إحدى الحرفيات (أم عبدالله) مراحل صناعة الخوص من سعف النخيل بعد تنقيعه وتجفيفه؛ ليُشكّل في صورة جدائل متشابكة تتحول إلى منتجات متنوعة مثل: الزنابيل، والمخارف، والحصر، وسُفر الطعام.
وأوضحت أن وفرة النخيل في القصيم جعلت من هذه الصناعة مورداً أساسياً للأسر المنتجة، مؤكدة استمرار الطلب على المقتنيات المصنوعة من سعف النخيل كالقُفف، والسلال، والمناسف، والأواني التراثية، التي تحظى بإقبال من المستهلكين لارتباطها بالهوية الثقافية.
وتعود صناعة الخوص إلى عصور قديمة استُخدمت فيها لتلبية الاحتياجات المنزلية، فيما أسهم التطور في تنويع منتجاتها وتصاميمها، ما عزز مكانتها في الأسواق بوصفها إحدى الحرف الأصيلة التي تربط الماضي بالحاضر.
From the palm fronds, the Qassim region has woven its heritage in the craft of palm frond weaving, transcending the traditional handmade craft of the past to find a present place that combines the value of heritage with the interest of artisans and visitors at the "Buraidah Date Festival."
The handicrafts corner at the "festival" witnessed a remarkable turnout from those interested in heritage, and one of the artisans (Um Abdullah) showcased the stages of palm frond weaving after soaking and drying it; it is then shaped into intertwined braids that transform into various products such as: baskets, mats, carpets, and dining trays.
She explained that the abundance of palm trees in Qassim has made this craft a primary resource for productive families, emphasizing the continued demand for items made from palm fronds like baskets, containers, serving trays, and traditional utensils, which enjoy popularity among consumers due to their connection to cultural identity.
The craft of palm frond weaving dates back to ancient times when it was used to meet household needs, while development has contributed to diversifying its products and designs, enhancing its status in the markets as one of the authentic crafts that link the past with the present.
