على الرغم من الاجتماعات والقمم الأمريكية الروسية، والأمريكية الأوكرانية والأوروبية، فإن «صفقة» إنهاء حرب أوكرانيا لم تتبلور بعد. ومع إعلان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أن أوكرانيا ستحظى بحماية من حلف شمال الأطلسي، فإن نظيره الأوكراني يبدو أنه لن يوافق على اتفاق سلام مع روسيا إلا إذا كان مدعومًا بضمانات أمنية صارمة.
ويبدو أن الضمانات باتت مشكلة ضخمة، واجهها حلفاء كييف مرات عدة خلال السنوات الثلاث الماضية أي منذ اندلاع الحرب، من دون إيجاد حل لها، إذ تتمسك كييف وبتشجيع أوروبي بضرورة الانضمام إلى حلف «الناتو»، الأمر الذي ترفضه موسكو بشدة، فضلاً عن إعلان ترمب أن هذا الأمر غير وارد.
وتفتح معضلة الضمانات الأمنية الباب أمام عدد من التساؤلات: فمن هي الدول التي سترسل قواتها؟ وما هي شروط نشر تلك القوات؟ كيف ستكون ردود الأفعال في حال تعرّضت لهجوم؟ ومن سيتحمّل تكاليف كل ذلك؟ وهل كييف مستعدة لتقديم بعض التنازلات مقابل ترتيبات وقف القتال؟.
ليست الضمانات الأمنية العقبة الوحيدة التي تواجه محاولات إيجاد حل للحرب المستعرة منذ أكثر من 3 سنوات بين روسيا وأوكرانيا، فهنالك معضلة أخرى تتمثل في الأراضي التي تطالب بها روسيا.

Despite the American-Russian, American-Ukrainian, and European summits and meetings, the "deal" to end the war in Ukraine has not yet materialized. With U.S. President Donald Trump announcing that Ukraine will receive protection from NATO, his Ukrainian counterpart seems unwilling to agree to a peace deal with Russia unless it is backed by strict security guarantees.
Security guarantees appear to have become a massive issue, faced by Kyiv's allies several times over the past three years since the war broke out, without finding a solution. Kyiv, encouraged by Europe, insists on the necessity of joining the NATO alliance, a demand that Moscow vehemently rejects, in addition to Trump's declaration that this matter is out of the question.
The dilemma of security guarantees raises several questions: Which countries will send their troops? What are the conditions for deploying those troops? How will reactions be if an attack occurs? Who will bear the costs of all this? And is Kyiv prepared to make some concessions in exchange for arrangements to cease hostilities?
