توفي الشاعر السعودي سعود بن معدي القحطاني أثناء ممارسته هواية تسلق الجبال في محافظة ظفار بسلطنة عُمان، بعد أن انزلق من سفح جبل سمحان بولاية مرباط.
وفي بيان لها، أكدت سفارة المملكة لدى مسقط متابعتها حادثة سقوط الشاعر القحطاني من مرتفعات جبل سمحان، مشيرة إلى أنها تنسق مع السلطات العُمانية المختصة لاستكمال إجراءات نقل جثمانه إلى المملكة.
وكشفت هيئة الدفاع المدني والإسعاف بمحافظة ظفار أنها باشرت الحادثة بمشاركة عدد من المواطنين، موضحة أن السائح السعودي تعرض لانزلاق من منطقة جبلية مرتفعة، ما تسبب في إصابات خطيرة أودت بحياته.
The Saudi poet Saud bin Maadi Al-Qahtani passed away while practicing his hobby of mountain climbing in Dhofar Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman, after slipping from the slope of Jebel Samhan in the Wilayat of Mirbat.
In a statement, the Kingdom's embassy in Muscat confirmed its follow-up on the incident of the poet Al-Qahtani's fall from the heights of Jebel Samhan, indicating that it is coordinating with the relevant Omani authorities to complete the procedures for transferring his body to the Kingdom.
The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority in Dhofar Governorate revealed that it responded to the incident with the participation of several citizens, explaining that the Saudi tourist slipped from a high mountainous area, resulting in serious injuries that led to his death.
