كشف أمين الطائف المهندس عبدالله الزايدي لـ«عكاظ» أن أمانة الطائف ستزيل جسر المشاة المقطوع في الحوية، على أن يتم إنشاء جسر بديل في الموقع نفسه، مؤكداً أن العمل جارٍ حالياً لترتيب تنفيذ تحويلة مرورية بالموقع، إلا أن المشروع تأخر بسبب أعمال قائمة لشركة المياه الوطنية.
ورصدت «عكاظ» أمس (الأربعاء) استمرار بقاء الجسر مقطوعاً منذ نوفمبر 2024، بعد تعرضه لقطع تسببت فيه شاحنة ما أدى إلى تحطم الجزء الوسطي من الجسر وخروجه عن الخدمة.
وأعرب الأهالي والمشاة عن أملهم في سرعة إنجاز الجسر البديل للاستفادة منه في العبور بين جهتي الطريق السريع، الذي يشهد كثافة مرورية عالية في محيطه.
The Secretary of Taif, Engineer Abdullah Al-Zaydi, revealed to "Okaz" that the Taif Municipality will remove the pedestrian bridge that has been cut off in Al-Hawiya, with plans to construct a replacement bridge at the same location. He confirmed that work is currently underway to arrange for a traffic diversion at the site, but the project has been delayed due to ongoing work by the National Water Company.
"Okaz" observed yesterday (Wednesday) that the bridge has remained cut off since November 2024, after it was severed by a truck, which led to the destruction of the central part of the bridge and its removal from service.
Residents and pedestrians expressed their hope for the swift completion of the replacement bridge to facilitate crossing between both sides of the highway, which experiences high traffic density in its vicinity.
